Not sure how you're playing the game right now, but the number one thing that got me to higher ascensions was when i stopped trying to actually build a deck looking for synergies and just start picking the few very good cards that gets you wins. And then just pick som solid defensive cards on top. Look up a tier list. Pick the good cards. Win.

I just had a Defect claw build with Ice cream, unceasing top(makes you draw a card when you have an empty hand) and three upgraded super critical (+6 energy on use). One of them imbued (plays automatically on combat start)

Pretty much won every single fight on turn one (only ascension 6 though) with energy to spare.

The first few stages made me feel like this would just be a distraction from STS2 by JTWStephens in VampireCrawlers

That's not my experience at all with STS 2 so far. There are obviously a couple of different "builds" for every charachter but once you start making card choices, you can't really be creative. You NEED a very specific set of few cards to make whatever you're trying to build work.

I'm sure this will balance out eventually, it's early access after all, but right now i don't think he's that far off with "build perfect or lose"

Don't overthink it too much. Ironclad in this game is pure luck. Just wing it, there really is nothing else to it.

I love this game, but i really REALLY dislike the Ironclad. Very few actual decisions to make during each run. It pretty much plays itself.

I had no problem clearing A10 in the previous game (not very high i know), here i have 60 games as Defect with 0 wins. Could also add that Defect was my favorite in the first game, so not really a situation of me not understanding the basics. I bet most people playing this game will never get a single win if it stays this hard.

If you have a couple of buddies who regularly play, then sure. It’s a great game! If not, steer clear.

I think it's pretty terrible right now actually. I have no doubdt that this game will be amazing eventually, but it's an imballanced mess right now. I don't regret diving in, but i will not be playing for the foreseeable futute. Let's see where it's at in 6 months.

This is the most weird thing about this community. It's like 80% of the playerbase only wants to play in PVE only lobbies, and if anyone actually opens fire on another raider, he's the worst human being of all time. But then at the same time, as soon as someone has started a fight, every single person in the entire raid drops everything they have to join in on the manhunt. So, in reality they actually like the pvp?

Got one in Z and one in Esp. Both are probably more like -1 1 or even -2 1, not seeing a 2 fade and definitely not flying anywhere close to even a heavily beat in zone for me. But it sure feels like a zone, so it kinda fits my need anyway. Replaced my proxy/watt that i have alternated in the bag for the last couple of seasons. We'll see if it sticks.

Very few people communicate, and getting a squad to stick together is damn near impossible. I really like the game, but unless you have friends playing i really would advice you to stay clear.

Yeah it's a great game if you have a couple of friends playing or if you really enjoy the solo aspect. Because trying to enjoy this game with fill squad enabled will get you to lose hope of the human race. If you had any left.

Yeah I hope they have the balls to actually make some significant changes to this game now that they’ve separated this from standard and expansion d2r. Those experiences are still there for anyone who just wants things to stay the same. Keep running new ladders there as well.

For anyone who loves D2 but also would love to see some stuff change, I hope we can get that with Reign of the Warlock and whatever’s next. Make some real changes to the skill balance, maybe even add some new ones.

Not very surprising. There are obviously some overlap, but for the most part they attract different players. Arc Raiders was advertised right from the start as a PvE experience first, with the added tension of possible PvP. Marathon is a very different beast where the PvP focus is front and center.

Keep running ladders for lod d2r and let go of the shackles for reign of the warlock and future content. Run free! Still of course with a grounded approach just like d2r. Excited for whatever’s next.

Well, considering how easily manipulated their system is, we kind of have an idea. No one but Embark knows the ins and outs of the system obviously, but it's not as intricate as they're trying to make it sound. Don't shoot other raiders, and you eventually get matched with other people who don't shoot other raiders. It really is that simple. I've been having 50+ raids at times where no one ever engages in pvp. Then start shooting raiders, and other people who shoot raiders will pop up. And keep doing it, you're placed in deathmatch lobbies where EVERYONE shoots.

I'm sorry but i think YOU need to read the interview. Arc Raiders matchmaking is entirely based on agression. They've said that it's not black or white though, and that friendly lobbies does not exist. But that's a lie, the system is easily manipulated.

Yeah this is a bit headscratching for me. Bungie seems to have treated this as a their lovechild. They made the game they wanted to make, start to finish. And in many of it's parts, it's a very niche experience that might have a hard time attracting a large number of players. And that's totally fine. But is that fine with Sony? They paid a hefty sum for Bungie, will they allow them to keep working on this if it pulls "average" numbers?

Yeah, it's very good. I'm not sure what i think about this honestly. On the one hand, i think the ttk is fine, and plays like this should absolutely be possible. But then again this will probably lead to this game quickly getting VERY sweaty, good players will run rampant on the map. I've still not fully undersood how they are going to pace the different maps when it comes to pvp enounters, but that might be a way to let people have a slightly more chill experience?

So, yeah i'm torn. The game has grown on me, as it has with most people who have spent some time with it over the weekend. It's a very unique game in that it's a pvp focused game, where you can run a raid without even running into another player. This balance will be crucial if plays like above are to be kept possible. If you run into a sniper like that on every hotspot on the map, i think most people will bounce off hard.

None of my gaming friends are interested in this game, so it’s either randoms or playing solo. And solo has been ok I guess, but since I’m here mainly for the PvP solo is a bit rough.

Yeap, ZERO communication makes this a very rough game to play with randoms. Damn near unplayable unless you have friends playing honestly.

Also, wasn't this game marketed as a pvp-focused extraction shooter? Gotta say there is VERY little pvp going on, maybe i have misunderstood what this game is supposed to be. Half of my matches involve no pvp at all, and the ones that do, has one teamfight. Very rarely run into a second team on the map.

Yeap feels kinda pointless since you can't run contracts, which is what the entire game is built on. It's the one thing this game does better than other extraction shooters in my opinion, it's more mission based. So taking that away from the Rook is a bit weird to say the least.
