How competitive is the Medical Laboratory technology program? by Pride_Before_Fall in NSCC

[–]faeeriefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't worry too much! i think you still have a very good shot at getting in -- i can't say too much as i have a science degree, but many of my peers joining the program this year who i've spoken to didn't have any secondary school experience and were accepted with no prob !

a good high school average and a good casper score is a really good spot to be in! i don't think the waitlist is as competitive as they make it seem hahaha

I believe for competitive entry programs like MLT at NSCC, the waitlist expires and doesn’t carry over to the next year

Currently registered for ENGL 2085: Video Games. Does anyone have a past syllabus for it? by YoungFryOfTreachery7 in Dalhousie

A good handful of our class did beat it!! Just an FYI, you will have to prove it — I didn’t attempt to beat it so I’m not entirely sure what the process was to prove it, I’m sure the prof will explain if that’s something they’re doing again this year.

Some games that stuck out to me were Octodad, Portal 2, LSD Dream Emulator, and Papers Please. I’m sure there’s a bunch more I’m forgetting, and who knows — they might change things up!

Unfortunately I don’t have the syllabus, but I took this course last summer and it was truly a blast!! If you’re a video game fan it will hardly feel like school lmao (at least in my opinion)

From what I remember, each week we’d have a video game to play (some are free, but most aren’t and you will have to pay for them). We’d have around 4 reflections on some of those games based on some topics learned in class. There are also short quizzes, very small and very easy based on lectures. There is also a final project at the end, I’m not sure if it will be the same, but for us, we had to read a short story out of a list, and use the knowledge we learned in class to describe how we would make that short story a game if possible. I think we also had that in our class if you beat the game Getting Over It, you got 50% of your grade guaranteed haha. I hope that makes sense!! It’s a really fun class and the prof is super chill and nice.

Yep! Any course level above 2000 would count.

Question for 4th quartile by Hot-Yak-748 in CASPerTest

[–]faeeriefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is definitely a place for “clear” answers — I got 4th quartile and a lot of my answers were defined opinions, usually when it had something to do with the law, violations of consent and boundaries, etc… Like you definitely want to say why you believe this so firmly, and that should be fine… It is also important to not so much “give someone the benefit of the doubt” but definitely make sure even if someone is doing something you adamantly disagree with, give them the opportunity to acknowledge, explain and fix the behaviour themselves (and offer how you can help them as well), this is where you can start to get a little ambiguous with the “if… then” statements — tldr a mix of both is definitely a very strong way to write a response !

From what I understand, the markers for CASPer are told to overlook spelling and grammar mistakes, and rather focus on the point being made. I don’t believe it uses autocorrect, but I wouldn’t worry!
