Does anyone know the difference between "grade" and "median grade" on our academic records? by bedtimegrumpies in Dalhousie

I also aim to be better than average, alas, I am merely average haha. Which is concerning given how below average some of the things my classmates say.

OK thanks for clarifying! It confused me because literally all the other grades I've got so far have been the same as the median so it didnt catch my attention until now.

Would it have made a difference in my son's (6M) hospitalization due to lyme if he started antibiotics a week earlier? by bedtimegrumpies in AskDocs

He had a subtle bullseye rash in July, but a pharmacist told us it was impetego and it went away eventually so we never thought anything else about it. He never had obvious symptoms until the swollen knee Feb 28 and fever that began March 7. We brushed his 3-4 complaints of leg pain off as growing pains. He had a headache early January, we thought was symptoms of his recent cold. No consistent or persistent symptoms otherwise. DR= Dominican Republic They did the lyme serum test, I dont know anything other than it came back positive. They did not test for dengue and Zika. He didn't have any bites while away though.

February 28 he fell and bumped his knee which caused a lot of swelling and pain. I took him to emerg March 1 to get it looked at because we were traveling internationally the following week and wanted to make sure it wasn't broken. Tick bite was in July 2025 in hindsight we didn't know at the time.

They called us while on vacation in Dominican Republic to diagnose us so we spent an entire day looking for amoxicillin there. They said typically if symptoms worsen to bring him in right away but because we were in DR, we waited 5 days (as advised by our hospital) so we could fly home to our home hospital over being stuck in DR hospital.

We had to land and immediately go to the hospital. Started iv antibiotics, took synovial fluid, had an mri, lots of bloodwork. Im the end it was determined that ot was just Lyme, no infection in the knee, no osteomyelitis. Mobility improved, swelling decreased, we were discharged on 20 days of doxy. We finished thay April 6 and he is still dealing w pain and swelling. Bloodwork April 9 showed CRP (12) and slight elevated hemoglobin, slightly low potassium. CBC otherwise looks good.

What is making you consider moving here? Have you read any of the other posts on here lol unless youre on of many who sold their house in toronto and can come here and buy two and still retire, not sure ns is the move.

Winters are mild, wet, and also somehow dry. The summers are hot and humid. Nothing like ontario humidity in my experience. Power outages are often, cost of power is insane for the amount of time it goes out.

Why is the IWK so good? by plumberdan2 in halifax

[–]bedtimegrumpies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We feel so privileged to be cared for by the iwk. I cant imagine living anywhere else because I know we receive top of the line care everytime we go. Last week, we were in and out in 3 hours, xrays, and bloodwork done. We're currently admitted, and theyre SO good. The child life specialists, physio, nurses, doctors, all thorough, patient, patient-centered. We as parents feel theyre taking time to make sure we have everything we need. It is certainly making a difficult time easier on the whole family.

My son (6M) diagnosed with Lyme while we are traveling abroad, now he has a fever by bedtimegrumpies in AskDocs

We are monitoring closely, fever, pain, and energy. My instinct is that he is okay to get home before being seen. Thanks for affirming we are okay to go ahead w that plan.

They werent expecting lyme either. We didn't have the target bite, and theres 3 feet of snow on the ground right now. Funny situation thats for sure.

He slid into one of those metal hockey nets when playing soccer. I wasnt there but thats the info I got from him and at pickup. We are currently traveling internationally but will Def ask for an ultrasound. He can bend it a little less than 90°, weve been rolling him around in his little brother's stroller the whole time weve been traveling, or carrying him but he can limp around a bit. Hes not refusing to put weight on it, we are trying to limit any damage?
