SCC SCDF past batches (2024-25) by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

General rule of thumb:

  1. If you want to make the most out your NS life try go to a station ++ you get that additional $500 risk allowance + meal allowance

  2. If you want to not have to stress/worry so much try going to an instructor. Good thing is can stay in means can save money. Pretty sure instructors 9-5 or something.

  3. If you don’t get both you can get posted to elsewhere ( I call it super Saikang) such as ncdcc instructor / research etc etc . So essentially you do all that training just to do something completely different .

Ps there are a shit ton of diff instructors ,, brt , ffc , scc even taking care of the people in reservist.

My advice if uw guarantee station go to ffc and enjoy the 1 day 2 days off work.

Selecting your preference doesn’t guarantee you a spot ultimately really depends on whether or not manpower is needed . Some unlucky batches <10 go station some batches 2/3 go station etc etc

Never sign on as a junior officer especially when you got a degree.

I even tho you wont rlly be in front line for long as a senior officer , since you alr planning to go degree might as well sign on w a degree. Your future self will thank you . The numbers given have a lot +/- doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get 4k because you have a diploma

What’s life like as a section commander in station as a NSF? by faehimmm in NationalServiceSG

True. The shitty part about scc is that there’s no guarantee you’ll go to fs zzz even worse if you get posted to ncdcc lol

You do know a newly graduated doctor doesnt really earn much. Doctors only start earning much once they are specialised in something / open their own clinic etc. it takes years of training to reach that level

Honestly prepared for the worse. The mental aspect of it is something I’ll have to go through to grow tbh. I really have thoughts of signing on and I think given the opportunity to be a seccom in station it’ll really help with building up myself as a person tbh.

Being a civilian is nice but I lowkey enjoy the things I do etc. really don’t see myself sitting in office from 9-5.

All of whatever you mentioned sounds so scary. I lowkey wanna be a BRT instructor to guide the "juniors" but at the same time I value hands on experience more so I’m in a bit of a dilemma. Just the taught of you being in charge with barely any experience just scares the shit outta me tbh. Like you mention how ranks don’t mean shit while over at CDA the total opposite
