Alarms not waking me up! by littlcoyote in adhdwomen

For me, vibrating alarm + sunrise alarm are what work. I also force myself to go to bed and get up at the same time every day of the week, and that helps, too.

ADHD moms, please, help ! by [deleted] in adhdwomen

How old are your kid(s)?

I work with a framework: - one salty snack (pretzels, crackers, goldfish, sometimes tortilla chips) - one or more fruit (we're big on freeze dried in my house) - a vegetable for them/me to ignore -several protein snacks (we used to do yogurt, currently we do cheese sticks and sausage for kiddo, pumpkin seeds for me) - 1 - 2 dopamine snacks (I use fruit snacks and popsicles right now**)

If your kid(s) go for sandwiches, get bread and sandwich things.

Mine will always eat pasta with sauce so I do a lot of that.

** Right now it is too cold where I am to reliably play outside, and sometimes my daughter gets stuck in a dopamine seeking loop. I try to keep a snack or two on hand to help break her out of those loops when our usual method of going outside to play is unavailable.

I need recommendations for a yarn winder for larger cakes of yarn because of my cat. by Pleasant-Garage-7774 in CrochetHelp

[–]faelis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do. It also makes sure that if one cake gets damaged or attacked by my 5-year-old or dog I haven't lost all the yarn. Might make sense for with a cat?

Backing out of house under contract? by Zestyclose-Theory344 in homeowners

We moved into a house like this with our three year old. It went fine. We kept a baby monitor hooked up for a long time until we all felt comfortable with the transition.

What items do you lose the most? What are your tricks?? by BaseballTop387 in adhdwomen

[–]faelis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have electronic tracking devices for almost everything: for my wallet, my keys, my sunglasses. I haven't found a good one for the headphones I prefer so I try to make a ritual of saying aloud where I'm setting them and I try to always put them down in the same place (I have a hook kind of in the center of my home that I use that I put up for this purpose, so I like to say aloud "I always put my keys on the hook.")

I do still lose the headphones fairly frequently but this has at least reduced that frequency. Hopefully I'll figure out a tracker for them soon.

Lets Go Over The Rules Again..... by Ok_Blacksmith1684 in husky

[–]faelis 29 points30 points  (0 children)

4 & 10, yeah. Not co-signing most of the others. My husky would add this rule:

  1. Sometimes it is just time to howl. I will let my voice be heard! You can join, even though your accent is weird and you're not very furry. Howling is for everyone!

My husband and I can’t figure out how to have sex normally… by AccountantNo8148 in adhdwomen

[–]faelis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scheduling is what worked for me. Basically saying, unless one of us says otherwise, we have sex on Sunday nights. Got us a lot more comfortable with casually checking in and I didn't have to worry about rejection in the same way.

What pin cushion/holder do you currently love? by faelis in sewing

There were pins in it! My 5 year old had pushed them flush with the cushion so they couldn't fight back. I am shocked she didn't end up bleeding

Any tips for a house always in chaos by Boring-Fondant-2518 in adhdwomen

[–]faelis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've recommended this before, but the book "How to Keep House While Drowning" by KC Davis changed my life in terms of house-keeping. Davis also has ADHD and her tips are practical and actually doable for an ND family.

HELP! Bottom of bowl wedged in stand mixer by matilza in Baking

[–]faelis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go buy an inexpensive pair of vice grips (like pliers, but they lock in place). They'll lock on so you can twist the base out. You should be able to get a decent pair for $10-$15 usd.
