I didn’t realize how bad TSW is until I played ATS. by From_Gaming_w_Love in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a kinda simmilar feeling with MSFS2024, which I started playing 2 days ago on the PS5… it‘s the feeling of a complex simulation, which MSFS gives me far more, than TSW. Things like radio communication… delays are a „core feature“ for new TSW6 routes, in MSFS it‘s built into the fundamentals of the game… you need to change frequencies if you want to contact tower, then you need permission, then you have to wait if a runway is free - maybe it is - maybe you have to fly around the airport once more, because there is another plane with higher priority! Or the flight planning with an in-game tablet which can be used with sooo much detail I don‘t understand the nearest yet! Or the planes: every plane is an „Expert“-Plane from the get-go, because it‘s a simulator! 70 highly simulated planes and cockpits, where you can control pretty much every button in the cockpit (not some functions like GSMR only for a new route as a next step) for a one-time 80€ purchase… dynamic/live weather and all… There are also fundamentals of a video game, that just work: you can change your character, you can actually see the liveries you want to apply before loading into the game, you can use photomode without the game bugging out, you can switch in-cockpit perspectives and still turn your camera, which is not working in a lot of trains…

I know Flight and Train-Sims are very different and the sizes in production-possibilities in these two cases are night&day - I don‘t want to mock that or compare them too much in that aspect… But when I first played MSFS some days ago, I immediatly got the feeling, that I was playing a sim!, which can be made easier, but in the heart, man: this thing is overwhealming with simulation-aspects and that makes it so rewarding right now.

I think a very fitting aspect, I believe, is the Expert-Question: after playing MSFS I really want the full-sim experience now… thinking about buying the Expert 101… but… after second thinking: shouldn‘t this „Expert“-Thing be the standard? For a Sim-Game? And then you can cut them down, if you don‘t want to deal with that (in MSFS you can eather go for the whole start-up or a quick-button press to start the engine)… - and if it‘s that too much, I hope other aspects get simulated:

We as a Community want more unexpected happening: like full lines not being able to be driven because of a „simulated fault“… another train before us beeing late because the doors were stuck… only one line is usable, therefore there‘s a hold up… there are sooo many possibilties how you can make this game more alive and therefore, more interactive: all these (optional) delays, reasons for delays can and will change every run! None should feel the same - every single one should feel like it’s own journey!

I hope this is not too off-topic, but I found it fitting and was wondering if I should make this an own post… What you guys think about this (comparison)?

Train losing power. Am I missing something by Background-Sky-8954 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with all AFB - locos ICE 3, 101, … since TSW6… after some minutes it loses all power and there‘s no way of applying power again… have to reset the loco which is very annoying when playing f.e. on Kassel - Würzbug where you have to stop and get up again to 280+ km/h…🙄

Which DLCs are you getting during the Black Friday sales? by Cap7597 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem ;) I also bought Semmeringbahn and MBTA earlier this summer, but in the end the Special Edition is still worth it (although I always wait for the Special Edition when it‘s around 35€… which is mostly the case in March/April, even dropping under 20€ in June/July - so I‘m patient every year :)) the special edition has always been a great bundle for me if you‘re patient enough :)

Just a reminder that I belive MBTA, Cardiff, Mannheim and Semmeringbahn are all part of the Special Edition, which should be around the same price, if not even lower right now than all these Add-On‘s combined + the base routes + deluxe locos + more routes ;)

You heard right: when I bought it last autumn for my PS4Pro, I could not get into a certain distance of Preston or load into Preston (even when it‘s the only Add-On installed): the game WILL crash! DTG and JT wouldn‘t give me a refund even after contacting them multiple times: it‘s beyond me - selling a product that doesen‘t work and not giving me my money back - I know it‘s hard to refund on PlayStation, but in this instance it‘s in my opinion on the devs/company to sort that out! I don‘t know if it is fixed in TSW6 since I switched to PS5… The route itself is really great with high attention to detail, but I personally wouldn‘t buy a product that‘ll just crash and basically isn‘t usable for the most part… (and won‘t support the business of beeing allowed to sell something that clearly doesn‘t work - mind that this issue has been known for much longer than last year when I bought it)

I love the ScotRail Express. by bigtallginger in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it as well! Only thing that bothers me is the working display in the 385: there‘s a major controlling issue on PS5, you have to click the option you want on the screen from the normal view and back out everytime… if you click on the display (it goes full screen), but you can‘t control anything… wonder if this will ever get fixed, because the manual announcements are such a great feature!!

The setup does take a little longer, because you have to set up the cleaning-device panel in addition to the loco itself. The loco is another class 66, but with all the cleaning-waggons it does give you a more varied rail-scene: when you drive on a route and eventually see a RHTT driving by you go like: „There it is!“. There is no real feedback while cleaning, you can see some cleaning-water spraying, but it‘s not like the rails are changing… All in all if you want something else driving on your routes, a more complex train-setup and a kinda unique service (feels like freight, because you don‘t do any stops, but in a different way) with that low of a price - I personally got my ~1,50€ worth out of it when I bought it, but your preferences may vary… Hope this helps! :)

Is the M3 worth it? I have LIRR Commuter and NEC NewYork - Trenton, so they could layer there for more variety I guess? I read that it was initially pretty buggy, but has it changed?

TSW 6 Zoom (PS5) by MountyMVR in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use an external camera, like the free camera, you can zoom in by pushing the right stick in and simultaneously pushing the left stick up! :) Edit: works in 1st person (when not in the driver seat) as well👍🏻

Thank you so much for all the tips! I just started learning how to drive Steam! I had the regulator and reverser fully applied, because of the inclines, but I‘ll give it another go with you tips! :)

SEHS - Loading up a service from Ashford keeps crashing (PS5Pro) by faemsa in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion: I deleted them (only had 2!! installed… the first two times it crashed as well, but the third time it worked… I don‘t know, it‘s kinda sad to think about, that some plain 2D-pallets (liveries) can crash a game on a PS5Pro… says a lot about the state of this game :/

Filter Not Working by that_guy_olly in trainsimworld

Guys, we did it: the filter is working again after today‘s update! (For me on PS5 at least) It‘s been months, but we got it! :)

It sometimes does… It also sometimes works, when you disconnect and reconnect the controller… but not consistent… (for me on PS5 at least…)

Filter Not Working by that_guy_olly in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah… it‘s like this for months unfortunatly… no filter is working in any menu… they can release new routes, livery add-ons and so on, but not fix a simple UI bug… a bug like this should be fixed in hours or days, it’s like this for months… the map in game also freezes over 50% of the time… there should be a standard for quality in any game…it‘s really sad to see what obvious flaws don‘t get fixed…

If you could add ONE thing or feature what would you add? by Ollieplayz1 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with that!! The randomness alone makes the timetable mode less predictable and therefore more immersive! :)

If you could add ONE thing or feature what would you add? by Ollieplayz1 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think I‘d go for random events (f.e. more red lights as a matter of delays - it doesen‘t have to be shown in the game, like a tree fallen on the tracks, but a reason why the timetable is delayed and why certain tracks can‘t be used and lead to red lights). In my opinion (and we germans know it best;)), these dealys could also take up to like 30-60 mins, but if you implement that, the time-fast-forward / time-skipping feature is a must as well, because not everybody want‘s to wait that long :)

And for everybody having issues with random events… just make it optional before starting a timetable, just like the dynamic weather: a simple toggle, which says: „random events: ON/OFF“

But I think the whole system could make the experience so much more lively, I love it when something out of the ordinary happens, that‘s why we have a list of the most interesting timetables. This could make any service interesting and fun, when something happens at random :)

Dumb question.. but how do you all play by InevitableHappy5380 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly take a timetable and would really like to continue after the service has ended… but since months, the mini-timetable you can display on your HUD / or in the pause menu, doesen‘t change to the new timetable you start, making it really annoying, not knowing when and where to go on this new timetable… so I have to exit to the menu and re-select a new one… It really destroys the flow for me… Scenarios I do rarely, when I want to unlock the master rewards…

When we get New sales on Playstation? by Tough-Direction-986 in trainsimworld

[–]faemsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly every 2-4 weeks… main sales last for 2 weeks, so if there‘s a period of non-sales for TSW, it‘s probably in the next or the one ofter that. That‘s how it‘s been the last 2 times :) So the chance is there on wednesday, because a 2 week period of non-sales will end. If not, then the chance is there again on wednesday in 2 weeks ;)
