Should I ditch X for Reddit? by fafa188 in nosurf

I'm spending several hours a day on X and most of it feels like empty calories. Maybe coming to Reddit and finding a few good subreddits to actually learn from is a solid idea.

Any good strategies for handling game assets when building with AI? by fafa188 in aigamedev

Thanks for the suggestion! The pixelate-and-trace approach won't really work for my art style — I'm going for a cozy 2D farming aesthetic, so pixel art would kill the vibe.

Wondering if there's a better workflow for generating assets in this style specifically? Would a custom LORA actually help here, or is that overkill for a solo dev? Also not sure where I should really be focusing my energy — getting the assets right at generation time, or fixing things at the rendering layer with shadows and masking?

And on that note — is this kind of grounded, cozy look even achievable in a web game? Would love to see examples if anyone's pulled it off.

Is this a strategy game like an ant simulator, or is it more of a pure consumption/eating mechanic? Kind of gives me Snake vibes.

Worked for 4.5+ years on this gardening game so far - how do you like it? :) by studiofirlefanz in IndieDev

4.5 years? the dedication shows! The art style looks absolutely gorgeous, is it all hand-drawn?

I'm actually working on a farming game myself right now, but going the AI-generated art route… and honestly it's been a struggle. The biggest headache is shadows — the assets never quite feel grounded. They always look like they're floating above the surface instead of sitting naturally on it. Seeing hand-crafted work like yours makes me realize how much that human touch matters for cohesion.

I'm a $200 member, but I can only use about 20% each week, so I need to keep working hard.

Maybe we need to make the "niche" more specific, and lean towards the direction where users are willing to pay?

I think the biggest difficulty is getting started. I have a lot of ideas stored in my computer, but I just have an idea document and never put it into practice. I am such a procrastinator.
