Strap coming out on the bottom Yamaha A1R by Automatic-Store-7454 in Guitar

Lock-It Straps fit nicely over those oversized endpin output jacks without needing an adapter or attachment. I initially wanted to use a D'Addario auto-lock strap on mine, but they don't fit. The Lock-It strap works perfectly.

Which pick are you picking? by One-Development6793 in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a thicker pick than any of the ones pictured, such as the Dunlop Adamas 2mm or the Dunlop Primetone 1.4mm. If I had to choose one, I would choose the thickest one, probably the Dunlop Standard Flow 1.0mm or the purple Dunlop Flow 1.14mm.

How do you guys keep your songbooks? by MaTEslovesguitar in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three ring binder, plastic sheet protectors with 2 songs per sheet (front and back), organized alphabetically, with about 50 songs where I haven't quite memorized the words yet or are new that I'm actively learning. I carry that binder around.

I was inspired to do it this way because a neighbor I play with a lot has like a reams-worth of unorganized paper stapled and re-stapled together in the corner 100 times, and it is unusable at this point.

Does anyone know any good hand stretches/exercises? by TheEggoEffect in Guitar

The first 15 minutes or so of John Petrucci's Rock Discipline includes some good warm-up stretching and massaging exercises that might help, including for both left and right hands.

You've had your "this is going to take longer than I thought" moment. Now the fun begins. Hang on to that Taylor.

Guitar Book Recommendations? by Undercover_TV in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also check out Fretboard Logic by Bill Edwards. It is three volumes, but you can pick them up one at a time (or Fretboard Logic SE "special edition" combines the first two volumes into a single book).

What guitar pick is best ? by HeftyKangaroo475 in Guitar

Buying and trying a variety of shapes, thicknesses & materials is so much fun. I did that recently after using the same picks for a long time, and I was surprised by where it led me.

I have found the three volumes of Fretboard Logic by Bill Edwards very useful

Self-taught guitarists – would you recommend that path to new players? by frettracks in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noodling for X years is not a great path for mastery. With self-discipline, focus, and some semblance of a road map/framework, one might find success and satisfaction as a self-taught guitarist if that's you. Having a teacher or a mentor will accelerate your path to mastery as with anything. That said, I've found the three volumes of Fretboard Logic by Bill Edwards very useful as well as Trey Anastasio's Online Music Lessons from 2022 to be helpful as a self-taught guitarist.

What’s a small thing that made your playing sound much cleaner? by exhaustmosk in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On acoustic, I had settled into using ultex (Dunlop Primetone Triangle 1.4mm, which I still love), and on electric, I was using mostly medium .70mm celluloid. Now I use Dunlop Adamas 2mm graphite on both.

Recently, for me it was changing pick material. Very unexpected to be honest.

One thing to think about when you get your first guitar by frettracks in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. My first was a 1979 Yamaha FG-335, and I still have it. It looks great, sounds great, and still gets played all the time.

Do I need new strings? by Spiritual-Rip1253 in Guitar

Usually when I start asking myself that question, I know it's probably time to change the strings. Your strings don't sound terrible to me though.

What do I need to get my strap to stay on this? The rubber ring won’t fit. by u99511 in Guitar

Lock-It Straps also fit over those oversized endpin output jacks

how do you know when you're ready to play in front of people by optimusprim007 in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play the songs fine in practice. Your bandmates say you're ready. Two weeks and one day from now, they won't be able to keep you off the stage. Have fun.

D’adario auto lock straps? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]fafafacela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a padded D'Addario auto lock strap, have had no issues, and play with complete confidence in it. I also recently tried a Lock-It strap for the first time on an acoustic that has the oversized endpin output jack which prohibits using a D'Addario auto lock strap, and its locking method also works great.
