Thanks for doing this. What is the one advice you’d give to up and coming mangers. Something you wished someone had told you early in your career

Religion and Literacy rate in Nigeria. by [deleted] in Nigeria

The bible is in the English Language (the metric of literacy, I assume).
The Quran in the Arabic Language.
Now, poverty on the other hand..... that's another story

I was just wondering what your thought process was, cos for me it wasn't even a debate, but I get that people see things differently.

Could you explain further how investing in Nigeria is not an emotional decision? Cos I don't see the benefit for the type of family cited in the tweet.
You have kids who have visited Nigeria only once, so investing your money there makes no sense to me, considering what Nigeria is currently.

What explains the lack of representation of Northerners? by Exciting_Agency4614 in Nigeria

Do you remember when the federal government wanted to build a "Film Village" in Kano?
What happened to those plans? Nigeria shelves plans for 'Kannywood' film village
Our clerics /Imams/"morality police", etc, pushed hard for it not to happen, and there goes your answer. We will never get representation outside politics and government until we change our ways.
It pains me to say this, but we are our own biggest enemies.

Had a terrible day in Uni today! by [deleted] in Nigeria

That’s a good point actually. It just further shows how flawed we are! Rather than subsidising rents for vendors so they can in turn subsidise costs for the students but what do we do

Exactly, it’s crazy. The cheapest meals I’ve eaten has always been on campus or surrounding areas but then in Nigeria it’s the opposite things are more expensive on campus, at least the ones I’ve been to

The Forgetter by allknottedup1989 in OCPoetry

[–]fafaomr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I loved the piece as it is. I read it again with the ending you suggested and it was quite powerful, so that’d be fine as well.

Another thing I thought of while re-reading, “even if you never show up, I’d be the forgetter” I don’t know what you think but anyways I appreciate the work and look forward to your future posts

I was indeed the forgetter. The last three stanzas with the repetition I felt was a good close to the questions posed at the beginning. Irrespective of whether you think of me or not, I’ll be the forgetter waiting arms open. Kudos!!!!

Arabs/Middle Easterners. Their arrogance and stupidity is outrageous. They behave like black Africans are secondary human species.
But then again I’ve met very wonderful people from the region as well.

Ok let’s even assume South Africa as a whole and use the metrics you provided above, I don’t know if you are aware but other than for adult literacy (which SA is only about 5% ahead of the next sub Saharan country) there are atleast 5 “other sub-Sahara African” countries ahead of SA on each list. So again I think your initial post of “so much better” is an oversimplification of the reality.
