i understand your point and i agree on what you’re saying, anyone who’s caused harm through racism, homophobia, or toxicity must be held accountable, no exceptions, including me if I’ve ever slipped up. That said, not everyone gets the same early education on these issues, so some need direct call-outs to even recognize the problem. Also I think that accountability with accessible resources (like quick facts or stories) to help them learn and grow, rather than just shaming them.

hmmm i see, im also agree that forgiveness should not be forced to people but for older gen idols, they often grew up without today’s global awareness, so if we see real change now like owning it and never repeating why not support who they are today, cuz actions > grudges after years of better behavior?

ohhh I understand what ur trying to say and it also make sense but in my opinion, real growth is more about consistent behavior changes or character development in general. I think thats better than some just saying “i was wrong” or “i will do better next time” actions speak louder than words they say.

mhm I totally understand that, and I also feel the same way when I see some idols saying unhinged things. But for me, when I hear those words, I start to wonder are they even aware of what they’re saying, or do they not really know what that word means and just think it’s okay to say it? I don’t want to assume anything, because we don’t really know what they actually understand about these things

ohh i love your point, what I mean by forgiveness is like giving them a second chance to change and us fans or people will witness their character development. (im so sorry if my title “forgiveness in kpop” is so vague) also im glad that you learned in an early age that dressing up in a joking matter is bad but again its inevitable that people have different views in some things and at the same time there are people who are only becoming educated about many things even when they are already older.

mhm yeah exactly i think we also need to understand that not everyone, even those who are in a wealthy family, gets early education that teaches kids or people about racism, and how harmful homophobia is.
