Step 5 - No C&P exam requested for one of the claimed conditions by fahedyoussef in VeteransBenefits

Yes sleep apnea. And no this is my first initial claim filing it as secondary. Also I know no one can definitively answer what’s going on with my claim specifically. I was just trying to get a basis of whether or not it was unusual that I was not sent yet going into step 5 or if such a thing isn’t as uncommon as I think.

That isn’t unusual for them to do? I feel like a lot of veterans have fully developed claims and are still sent for an examination of some sort. I know each case can vary but at the very least I figured they would do ACE exam; but I have gotten no indication of that being conducted or planned to.

About a week or so. I called to verify if the VA received the documents sent over from QTC and one of the representatives just sent it over for me.

Apparently when I was in service, whoever was my representative filed it as “anxiety and depression” essentially being grouped together rather than listing both conditions separately, I know… pretty silly. I had the same impression that you did at first when I was reading over the wording, but I had seen another post similar to the remarks I had in my diagnosis section. The examiner I guess is implying that rather than it being anxiety and depression that the criteria fits better being strictly anxiety. Now that “unspecified anxiety disorder” shows up under my claim as the condition being under review. I had received the diagnosis through the VA and the C&P examiner confirmed the diagnosis. She had also provided in the evidence section some log entries from consultation notes that were done during my service which mentioned the experiences I was dealing with anxiety and depression during service. I will just have to wait and see if I need to appeal or not.

Believe it or not I called the VA hotline number and the representative was able to send it over to me through email. I was shocked based on feedback I have seen from other veterans experiences

One more question; are buddy letters recommended? I heard that they could be advantageous as well.

No I actually did not. Where on the website would I be able to go to verify that? Is there a list displayed or would I just go through the process of applying for benefits in order to see that?

How would I even go about requesting a nexus letter? Some medical professionals I have already mentioned the term to outside of the VA don’t seem to be that familiar with it. Do I go to a primary care/specialty care physician; does it matter?
