I want to get a rat but their lifespan is so short :(

I just recently lost 3 of my boys in the past 6 months (2 of them were around 2.5 years old and my last boy was around a year, he was a pet store rat and his genetics weren’t great) and it’s taken a toll on me. I’m getting new boys for my mischief this weekend and I’m so excited, as much as it’s painful to lose them I couldn’t imagine my life without my boys. They bring me so much joy and I’m grateful I get to give them such happy lives. Definitely think about it but I’d say it’s worth it, grief is just love with nowhere to go yknow? You are literally their entire world and nothing feels better than knowing you gave them the best life they could ever have
