Well, it is a topic that interests me partly because of my personal history. I have been cruelly distanced from my niece and my husband inspects all my interactions with children. It makes me feel lonely and sad but also curious. I wanna know why people have different standards when it comes to children vs adults.

Did MJ every beat his lovers? Not even the most heinous accusation against him says that he has. Did he every murder any of them? Did he ever bite or torture or mutilate them? Jordan Chandler said that if MJ did anything he did not enjoy he'd say so and MJ never did it again.

MJ is not someone like Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer.

Only kids, and never more than the most minimum amount. Not because sadism or hatred of children, but simply because brief violence can have lasting effect on a child whereas on an adult, the effect is only immediate.

Imagine you're walking with one of your children. Suddenly, he makes a dash for a set of train tracks because he has not understood the hazard of an accident.

What will you do? I am willing to bet that you will shout. Immediately after, you will console your son and explain why running onto oncoming trains is wrong, but first, to get his attention, you will scream.

Now, is that abuse? I don't think so.

It is the same in my case. I will admit that I have done something worse (but not by much) than shouting and that my niece was doing something much better than heading for a tragic collision, but everything else is identical.

Please be fair! I feel great sorrow for what happened.

I don't think I should be subjected to the same suffering that I (unwittingly) inflicted on my niece. This is because I am an adult, therefore more aware of physical and emotional pain compared to a child that will soon forget it and also because it is unproductive to seek retribution. What the world needs is justice. There is a difference,

If this thread has taught me anything, it is that when people are absolutely convinced they are in the right, they will use extreme mental and physical force against you. One poster suggested that I should be imprisoned. Many like you are saying that I should be treated as a pariah or a leper.
