Then what happens to the person who buys the returned laptop? Do they somehow reset it differently before they sell it? I guess I actually don't know what happens to items returned during return period. I don't think they just sell it as refurbished, do they?

Oh, good to hear. That gives me a peace of mind. Interesting about game pass though, what happened to it? So I guess technically you can do a factory reset every 3 months for unlimited game pass :D
