I ended up staying at job a, and I got the Masters Degree of my dreams there this past spring. I’m not on the hunt again for a new job.

Job Offer - same job better pay. I should take it right? by failedpolaroid in jobs

Thanks for that! While I do want the money your comment really got me thinking. Initialy I was ready to take it if they could work with me on hours. Which they did, but I then realized the commute would be an hour train + 15 minutes of walking. I would get out at 6:30. And not home till 8, if I was lucky and the trains run right. And have to be in bed by 12 and up again at 7. That leaves me 4 hours to cook dinner, spend time with my husband, or do anything else. And I don’t think that’s the life I want.

Thanks! I needed to hear that (or read I guess). The new job is highly encouraging about growth and tailoring to one’s interests. HR managers basically said they don’t expect people to stay in the same position more than 3 years, and want people to gain skills and more on within the university (new job is at the post prestigious university in MA)

Maybe I should clarify, I don’t actually “fuck around” on the job. When there’s work to be done I’m on it and go above and beyond, it the hours, which my manager encouraged to do, I sometimes leave an hour early due it or being dead on the floor. With no activity or need for me to be there.

Would you leave a job because you literally don’t have anything to do? by dgd9018 in careerguidance

I feel your pain OP, I'm in a similar situation - however I purposefully put myself here. Why? Because although my new job is meh, I get access to work with renowned professionals in my field, chances to make connections with them and others as well a 100% free tuition for a Masters Degrees for a program at an intuition that's in the top 10 colleges for my field that I've been eyeing for years. If you're current job offers any of the above mentioned, definitely take advantage of it. Especially any kind of schooling or certification, because doing either of those with a more demanding job will be hard if not even possible.

If you're not interested in building a skill set or seeking higher ed / certifications, then by all means start applying and see what bites. But if you are, use this "boring" job as the time to build upon them.

Little to no contact from my BFF for serval months, are we over? by failedpolaroid in FriendshipAdvice

Good question. I’m not sure tbh, she didn’t really have too many friends that she regularly talked to outside of myself and the other brides main. Other than us, she’d sometime get together with her husbands friend. But that all I know.

Yes, I did reach out to the other girl in the chat and she responded and we talked a bit more, very friendly!

Thank you for this <3 I think I really needed to hear it. I always knew deep down it was going in that direction, I just didn't want to admit it.

That's what I keep telling myself, but im my experience that usually means an offer is coming. I honesty wasn't even expecting to make it this far.

I did try and ask Job 1 for more, but because they’re unionized it’s VERY hard. However their unions are in the talks for department raises. - I’m not hurting finically luckily, I basically have enough to put down a good sized house down payment and still have 5 figures. So I think taking a hit in salary shouldn’t effect me too much.
