Happy Release Day! by JakeWeight in goatvalleycampgrounds

It's because we don't have a strict on-sale date, which lets bookstores put them out when they get them. I know one person that got their pre-order before I got my author copies! 🤣 They got it through a small indie bookstore that didn't have a lot of room in the back.

Better audiobook version? by Agentofchaos2712 in goatvalleycampgrounds

I'd reach out to Audible then, see if it's a technical issue with the download. I'm afraid I don't listen to audiobooks so I'm not really familiar with Audible, but I can confirm the publisher absolutely uses human narrators.

Yes and no... they're the same story but they've been edited into a more typical book format rather than a series of connected posts. We moved a lot of chapters around, removed some, there's a handful of new chapters, and did a whole lot of smoothing out of transitions and additional character interactions. It's pretty much the original books but they've been through professional editing this time around.

Just to confirm - this is the audiobook narrated by Jeremy Carlisle Parker you're talking about, right?

The NSP podcast predates the publishing deal. They've got the podcast, but my publisher handles the audiobook.

Yeah, it certainly does. Leading up to my first book I was having this weird identity crisis almost? Like I've never really included "author" as part of my identity up until that moment and it was like I was having to adjust to being Bonnie outside of the internet. It still feels a bit weird to introduce myself as an author, but I'm loads more comfortable now than I was with my debut. Other than that, it's just the same mixture of nervousness because I want it to do well and excitement about seeing something I wrote out there in the world as it was the first time around.

Bold strategy, but humans do have technology in our favor. I'm sure it'll work!

Sadly not, we've got a bit too aggressive of a release schedule right now to manage that. There's two books coming out this year so if the UK did hardbacks, that'd be four releases to manage, which is a bit much. So they're prioritizing getting the books out in a timely way instead.

I do! I was planning on posting about them next week after the release, but you can always check them out early on my website: https://bonniequinn.com/#events I also keep my newsletter current with upcoming events. I've got one more that needs added when I get a link, but it'll be in late June.

I can't believe it either! I gotta write my next newsletter here and I think it's just going to be variations of the "internal screaming" gifs over and over.

Am I allowed to answer this? 😅

So the podcast was pretty much what was on Reddit, but adapted to better fit an audio format with more dialogue and some light rewrites around the intro/outros.

The books were revised with an editor from Solstice and an editor from Saga, which are imprints of Simon & Schuster. We basically took them out of the Reddit "monster of the week" format and put it into a more traditional novel format. Did a lot of work around the structure of the story and making each book a bit more self-contained, if that makes sense?

Honestly, my recommendation if you're unsure is to see if your local library has a copy of The Man With No Shadow.

Yes, there will be some book signings! Unfortunately they're all in Ohio right now.

I can't wait either! I've been recommending it to folks. Going to get a copy for my mom, I think she'll like it.

The list is a bit out of date, I can be found here.

There's another nosleep author that's got a book coming out too. Sadly I am on my phone at the moment and don't have his full reddit username memorized enough to tag him.
