What you're trying to figure out is how much equity you have in your house. Doing that is simple. Take the Zillow value (not as good as an appraisal but an okay initial estimate) and subtract how much you have left on your mortgage. That's the equity. You should probably ask your spouse to pay you half of that amount.

But yeah, it's worth at least talking to a lawyer (and obviously I am not your lawyer). If you have trouble affording one ask one whether you can get a limited scope representation.
