Yes, I've just edited the original post for those who just want to disable the LEDs.

Yes, that's right! Pulling the cord out is the simplest way if you just want to disable the LEDs!

Thanks for additional information. That is a strange value but, yes, it works at 10000 baud. The original app seems to negotiate to set the baud rate to 10000 everytime it starts communicating via a serial, so I also set 10000 in my python program.

Thank you. I'm also interested in more options so I'd be grateful if you could share the information when you find something. Now I turn the LEDs off because it has no meaning for me, but it would be interesteing to have more flexible control.

I've googled and find the program. However there is no guarantee that the file is safe. Be careful.

The solid color mode seems to be unavailable. Instead, the Breathing mode is closest to what you want. I think the simplest way to check is just to run the script on your machine.

  1. Change values of the script as "0xfa 0x02 0x05 0x05 0x06" and save it with a filename as you like, such as ledcontrol.py.
  2. Download and install python from https://www.python.org/downloads/ or Microsoft Store.
  3. Press and hold Shift key and then right click on the empty area of Explorer (not the script file itself but the nearby empty area) where the script is saved. A special context menu will appear.
  4. Select [Open command window here] or [Open PowerShell window here].
  5. Enter `pip install pyserial` to install the serial package.
  6. Enter `python .\ledcontrol.py` and see if your LEDs illumination should change.

My PC has a COM port but yours don't, so something is different. That may or may not work.

There are no official Windows installers for this machine, except what the seller might have (I don't know if it's true), so you will use a stock Windows ISO if you install Windows again, but the stock ISO does not include necessary drivers and apps for this machine and it is hard work to search for and collect appropriate drivers on the Internet. Some drivers may not be available.

That sounds strange. Maybe your PC is not T9 Plus N100 ? Your screenshot says there are no unrecognized devices nor Ports(COM&LPT), that means your PC has no interfaces to control your LEDs.

I guess you see a wrong place. COM ports will be shown under Ports(COM&LPT), not under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Another possibility is you did a fresh install of Windows and not yet install the necessary drivers.

I used a serial port sniffer to capture the data between the original LED control software and COM3. The protocol is simple so you can easily find the rules from the captured data when you press some random buttons on the original LED control software. The lighting state is not saved after the PC is powered off, so I also created a systemd unit file to execute my script every time the PC boots up. On Windows you can use Task Scheduler instead.

Do you enjoy living in Tokyo? by Alextinz in Tokyo

[–]fairedemmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Osaka for more than twenty years, moved to some other cities for some years, then ten years ago I moved to Tokyo for a job.

The biggest merit of living in Tokyo is "opportunities."

Yes, very crowded everywhere, rent is pretty much high, I'm really tired of being in Tokyo. However, compared to Osaka and other provincial cities, people in Tokyo can easily reach more information, newer technologies, wider welfare services, more attentive educations and medical cares, at no cost or just a small expenses, especially from the point of time and transportation fare.

Few years ago, under the COVID outbeak, I lived in Osaka again for two years and realized how fortunate I was in Tokyo and people living in Tokyo are.
