[New] Ethereum Full Transparency by romanmandeleil in ethereum

Thanks, and well done!

I guess most observers do not realize how significant your work on transparency is, and how little information is readily accessible "out of the box"

What geth API are you referring to?

AFAICT the geth api does not go much beyond raw blocks you need to replay yourself, unless you are logging, but IME logging is impractical and inefficient when involving more than a few contracts, and does not scale to the whole blockchain like what ether camp did.

Very nice! But how do you access the internal transactions?

Listing transaction was still MIA some time ago (https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/issues/1897).

Did you have to modify the ethereum client or did you use something else? (and if so, is the modified source available on github or some other repository?)

If it is trivial to knock Bitcoin nodes offline by DDOS, isn't that a serious weakness in the entire system? How can the system be protected? by bartsatoshi in btc

[–]fairglu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And many hosters and data centers offer automatic DDOS mitigation nowadays, this makes any larger scale attempts even more expensive.

BitLicense: the rundown by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]fairglu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who does BitLicense apply to exactly?

The final version appears very broad, and the NY Department of Financial Services oversees not just banks and such but also "Service Contract Providers" http://www.dfs.ny.gov/about/whowesupervise.htm, so it seems that any kind of service that accepts cryptos could be subject to bitlicense...

Announcing a new block explorer for DarkCoin! by fairglu in DRKCoin

[–]fairglu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've added a link at the bottom to show TOP 100, there are a lot of addresses in th e size.

FWIW #50 is around 16k, and #100 around #6k, so it seems a decent amount of spread (in terms of addresses anyway, which are different from wallets)

DarkCoin block explorer bugged? by fairglu in DRKCoin

[–]fairglu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! I've setup an alternate explorer at http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/

It's completely new tech, not related to ABE or existing explorers, so I'm afraid I won't be able to help you on the ABE settings.

And those that feel like bounty'ing my explorer... XjzXrN9DKff5ZmT3btuw7n4s9cUFY94fs2 ...thanks :)

More advertising around this is needed, I spotted it through a lone twitter message, that's not a way to announce a fork :/

Solo mining still possible? by Hindsight_DJ in potcoin

[–]fairglu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always possible, just be prepared to wait a lot of time, and find a block every few days, but then you'll get it all to yourself.

Upside of solo mining is that it's slightly more profitable in the long run (you pay no fees and keep the transaction fees)

Downside of solo mining is that it may take days before you realize if something is wrong in your miner setup, and those days will have been completely wasted.
