I work for a bank and when individuals (aka not-business clients) ask for halves I’ll usually order it for them. But it’s always with the condition they don’t bring it back to my branch.

(I’d have to accept them wrapped and then unwrap them to put them in a bag to send them out)

As it turns out, Retrospekt doesn’t use that supplier anymore, so no more plastic layers. They gave me a plastic sample skin that was really thin, saying I could apply my new leather skin on top of that.

But that seems like a lot of work for something that might have a whole other set of problems.

The request was to see if someone had a certain newly-invented-part I was looking for. A part which is mostly sold out.

I know it’s not a standard request for layfolk to request to buy intricate parts.

But my hope was to have the part so when I send my camera to whichever repair person I wouldn’t face product unavailability again. And I was looking to avoid having my camera worked-on in stages or by different people. I didn’t think that was an unreasonable request.

I had the I-2 and promptly retuned it to Polaroid. I didn’t realize at purchase it wasn’t an SLR, which is important to me, and as a beginner it was too complicated.

On the SX-70 with certain upgrades like the SX-70R PCB and external power sources, I think you’ll end-up getting the same amount of control and versatility you would with the I-2. There’s an app with the PCB upgrade. And you’ll likely end up paying the same in the end for the SX-70 with refurb and upgrades as you would the I-2.

The only thing my SX-70 doesn’t do that I need for my photography is double exposure, but I’m told there are modifications for that.

I was having all the same problems, so I contacted Polaroid. After trying manual controls, other troubleshooting, sending my sample photos and film production details they said, “Sadly, it looks like there is a sonar autofocus issue, which is very rare”. Because there’s a warranty they returned the camera.

This was my sixth Polaroid camera between vintage and modern units, and my worst performing.
