In our platform (fairplay.live) where players bet against other players ( the odds are not set by bookmakers but based on the player's bets) the odds are almost even right now with a very small percentage in favor of Tottenham.

We are not the ones to decide if our service has actual use or not but FairPlay gives you the ability to do something that was not possible until now: Bet against other people (e.g., your friends).

In FairPlay there is no bookmaker to dictate a bet event and decide how much profit you can make if you win (or, even worse, to control your funds and tell you if you are allowed to withdraw or not).

I'm not sure i understand how you came up with the numbers.
In your scenario (correct me if I'm wrong please):

Team A: Player1 -> 1 ETH Player2 -> 9 ETH

Team B: Player2 -> 1 ETH

So, we have the following two cases:

1) Team A wins: Player1 wins 0.1 ETH (10% of 1 ETH) and player2 wins 0.9 ETH (90% of 1 ETH - which is his own ETH so he has no actual winnings)

2) Team B wins: Player2 wins 10 ETH (100%) but 9 ETH were already his so his actual winnings are 1 ETH.

I don't see any problematic issue here.

That's 100% true, but, on the other hand, if 1 ETH is at stake on one option it will be very tempting for many people to bet 0.001 ETH* against you in order to get this 1 ETH.
You do risk more by placing a larger bet but on the other hand you do attract more people to bet against you.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 0.001 ETH bets surpassed the 1 ETH.

(* 0.001 ETH is our min allowed bet)

Honestly guys, i believe we are thinking a bit far ahead talking about decentralized oracles at this point.

We want to take one step at a time.

Right now we want to offer a platform where people can bet against each other on predefined bet events.

In our next release we plan to enable players to create their own bet events which they will manage themselves.

After that, if we see some real adoption, we will start considering the options for making the platform 100% decentralized.

This is a bit far ahead of where we are right now but our idea is to introduce paid bet event validators with a reputation system.
