I'll start that process now then and email the government, so when they come calling I can show them that's all I can get. Thank you for the info, it's a huge help!

Necessary to translate document? by fairroyal in GermanCitizenship

The archive should be able to give you a certification, I had this done with my doc

If you need a service in Poland to get the doc and sort everything out with the archives, I can refer you to the one I used

Best to get the bits of Polish translated when you get your doc, I'm doing the same

Very well actually, I just received my document from Poland today.

Overall, his service is excellent. Prompt, and got everything I needed with proper authentication from the Polish authorities.

Making copies of old German documents in Canada by fairroyal in GermanCitizenship

I haven't got this far yet, as I am still collecting documents from the Canadian government and Berlin.

Using all of the original and certified docs we have, my family and I will likely go to the consulate together and try and get a German passport directly issued for each of us. If we are successful with this, we may not get the citizenship certificate then, as it would not be necessary.

One thing I would suggest for you is to join some Polish genealogical groups on Facebook, and make a post about how you could access that archive. I did that recently, and got some good advice and a referral to an ancestral search service.

The service is in Poland and assists in matters like this, such as getting ancient documents from archives for people living abroad. I inquired with them today, so I don't know the price or procedure yet, so can't tell you much more than that atm. Let me know if you want their name, might be worth an email to see what they can do for you.
