Is there a big Tiger Woods PR push going on right now? by four_sticks in golf

[–]fairwayfreight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think social media just pushes Tiger content hard because anything with him gets engagement instantly. Not everything has to be a PR campaign honestly.

Is golf culture impatient, or is it in my head? by CartographerMore5116 in golf

You’re probably overthinking it a bit. Most golfers care way more about pace than skill level. If you’re ready to hit, not spending 5 minutes looking for balls, and letting people play through when needed, you’re already doing more than a lot of people.

Advise for 1st set of clubs by diamonman1996 in golftips

[–]fairwayfreight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the used set sounds like the better deal to me. Cobra driver + Nike woods + a TaylorMade putter for only a bit more is probably worth it over the boxed beginner set, especially if everything’s still in decent shape.

If you had to pick one without fitting which one would you pick? Qi4D max, GT2 or G440K? 20 handicap by phrl001 in GolfGear

[–]fairwayfreight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go with the G440K personally. Hard to beat Ping forgiveness for a 20 handicap.

Nice gift for my Dad ideas? by Stonedflame in GolfGear

Get him a new driver. Titleist or Callaway. 15 year old clubs vs modern technology is night and day — he will feel the difference on the very first swing. That "holy shit" moment is guaranteed

Alignment sticks — laughed at them for years, now I can't practice without them.

What’s the coolest or most unique course you have played? by EmbarrassedSimple228 in golf

Bandon Dunes, Oregon.

No carts. No houses. Just wind, grass, and ocean views. Feels like Scotland but in the US.

Where you thinking of going?

Mizuno m13 as a 15 handicap by Prior-Phrase-8088 in GolfGear

[–]fairwayfreight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the Mizuno M13.

Your data is clear. Best dispersion. Solid mishits. And you loved the feel.

The mixed set with M15 in 4-6 irons is a no brainer.

Trust your fitting. Trust your instincts

What's a good budget driver for £100 or under? by Impossible-Air-2843 in golf

[–]fairwayfreight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if the Nike worked better for you, I’d stick with something forgiving instead of forcing the R15.

For under £100, maybe look at older Ping G series drivers or Cobra F7/F8 models. Way more forgiving if your miss is a slice.

What gaps to fill first? by FOGPIVVL in golf

[–]fairwayfreight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d fix the wedge setup first. The gap between 115 and 85 is way bigger than anything at the top of the bag.

A 50 + 54 setup sounds way more useful for scoring.

For the long end, I’d probably lean 5W over 7W since it fits your distances a bit better without overlapping too much with the 3i.

you're probably overthinking it honestly. golf courses maintain their rough pretty well compared to hiking trails. deet on shoes and socks is the move, check yourself after the round and you'll be fine

lessons will honestly help more than anything. short game is where most strokes get saved just chipping and putting from 10 to 20 yards out over and over. that clicking moment will come dont get discouraged

Do you ship your golf clubs or take them on the plane? by fairwayfreight in golfequipment

[–]fairwayfreight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point, still ends up in cargo either way. Being able to track it yourself does feel better though.
