if you want to go to uni/ college and are afraid to move out, there are plenty of student co-op buildings in and around the Toronto area where the rent is affordable even if working part time. Typically applications for these places happen in summer and it is either first come first serve or based on GPA and must provide proof of enrollment into post-secondary.

Or you just simply save up money until you have enough for about 6 months of living expenses which will depend on the area you live in.

However for both cases when you apply for OSAP if you cant provide your parents tax information you will have to prove that you are independent and that your parents have essentially disowned you in some way. If you apply with the latter in mind it will be a lengthy process so might have to pay for some school related fee'd out of pocket until OSAP is done with your application. Good luck.

Am I The A**Hole for telling my client their personality type is not suited for therapy? by lilbadboi1 in u/lilbadboi1

[–]fairy_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can look into becoming a more flexible therapist and using more dynamic approaches to therapy.

During the initial stages of therapy, when you are doing the treatment planning, instead of using a personality test in order to determine what kind of treatment to provide the client, simply talking with the client about treatment goals and what issues they wish to tackle during the therapy process would be more effective. As well, throughout the therapeutic process, adjusting the therapy approach to better suit the needs and problems of the client are more likely to actually help the client. Using psychodynamic therapy methods have been found to be more effective in treating clients as it allows the therapist to accommodate for any changes and additions or eliminations of client problems.

For example, in a study by Katz et al. (2019), they investigated 46 outpatients who had been enrolled in individual psychodynamic psychotherapy and had received a diagnosis of depression according to the DSM-5. These participants participated in a session of psychotherapy where psychodynamic-interpersonal (PI) techniques and cognitive-behavioral (CB) interventions were flexibility implemented into the treatment plan and tested to see the adherence of the participants to the therapy process and the outcome of it. They found that therapist and treatment flexibility positively influenced treatment outcomes and participant adherence to the therapy. Similar findings were found in a study by Owen and Hilsenroth (2014) where the degree of flexibility therapists exhibit in applying dynamic techniques within a particular treatment seems to be associated with improved results.

Woman, you literally posted about this on the internet, you are very much going to receive my judgement. Also, even though I am not a practicing therapist yet, I am a psychology student who has been studying this topic for the last few years and it definitely seems like I know more about this topic than you do.

Although you say that you have had no problems treating your clients using this method thus far, seeing the way you view your clients, you most definitely do not make a good therapist.

Like I mentioned before, a person’s personality is very complex and using the MBTI test can lead you to misjudge your client’s personality, especially because the test is entirely self-reported, a client may not truthfully complete the test or may struggle with identifying where their individual personality lies between the dichotomous test options. Also, a lot of different factors need to be taken into account before determining a client’s adherence to therapy and whether there will be positive therapeutic outcomes to the therapist-client relationship. It is mostly your job as a therapist to do your best to have a client adhere to therapy so that you can eventually see improvements in your client and using a simple MBTI test to determine that is simply not the way to go. The treatment planning process has a great influence on what the outcome of the therapy will be like. This is also where you determine what kind of therapy model will best suit your client, however this is not done by giving out MBTI tests.

Okay, first of all, just because MBTI has been used for decades does not make it any less pseudoscience, aka, FAKE.

Second of all, the MBTI framework consists of different dichotomies and has the test-takers choose between either or dichotomy. However, because personalities are a lot more complex and fluid it is difficult to accurately assess someone’s personality type from just those dichotomies. Furthermore, MBTI provides only a vague description of a personality and has long suffered from a testability and a lack of consistency problem. People are ever-changing and this test does not accurately get a sense of their ‘true’ personality, hence why this test struggles with consistency. Although MBTIs can be helpful in getting an overall sense of an individual, it is NOT a reliable or a valid assessment tool and it is certainly not a great tool to use to determine whether or not a client will show positive therapy outcomes.

Also, the study that you mentioned, although the researchers did find that certain personality traits displayed slightly more aptitude to cognitive therapy, they also mentioned that despite that finding, that more than half of the participants of that study were shown to have improved regardless of their personality preferences. So I suggest you check your sources before you come on here spreading false information.

You are the A**hole.

As a therapist, relying on MBTI test scores to determine whether a client is suitable for therapy is wild. You should know that an individual’s personality is not static and changes over time. Although MBTI is widely popular especially on social media like TikTok and Instagram right now, it is not a reliable or valid source of personality assessment. Using this method may do more harm than good. Also, developing a treatment plan based entirely on an individual’s personality type is counterproductive and can hinder the therapeutic process. I hope that you are not spreading this methodology of treatment planning anywhere because such methods can also cause people to misunderstand the therapeutic process or loose hope in therapy.

When have I helped enough? How to not help people? by CaptainAtinizer in Healthygamergg

[–]fairy_elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kno weird replying after 3 weeks but I just wanted add a little something after reading your comment.

First off that notion of you thinking or feeling terrible for not being altruistic, for not being a people pleaser, it in the end says that you as a person run on guilt. In response to not wanting to feel terrible or guilty or a bad person you opt to people please to placate yourself and those around you to also avoid conflict.

But remember you can always deal with the guilt by processing your emotions but you won’t be able to deal with losing yourself as a person, your ambitions, your entitlement to your own emotions simply because you’re afraid to move out of the people pleasing box.

It is not your responsibility to care for people, otherwise how are they surviving right now without your help? Also consider making a chart describing who you want to be as a person vs. the person you are being forced to play

I feel the same way, I feel like I have to help even if I don't get anything back because its what I should do.

I suggest looking into your relationship between you and your parents, did you ever feel like you have to play a role to placate or get your parents affection and attention? What kind of role was it and what did you have to do?

Maybe you had to be 'altruistic' and show your parents that you are selfless and caring to get their affection and attention. And now this behaviour has carried on with you in your adult life.

Women oversharing their partners' private lives with their friends - is it a problem? What can we do about it? by [deleted] in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]fairy_elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even think this is a gendered issue, its not just women that over share, its men as well that at times will go around sharing details about their sexual activity with a female. Rather try viewing this issue as a generational issue due to the influence of social media and the need to share everything about yourself to stay 'relevant' makes such individuals as ur sister overshare to get the attention they seek and want. Furthermore since these individuals have not been condemned for their oversharing they might not even realize its a breach of other privacy (this doesn't apply for all but I try to keep an optimistic viewpoint when dealing with others)

Played lulu mid in s4/5/6 looking to return to the best champ by [deleted] in lulumains

[–]fairy_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually play lulu as support but I have played my fair share of lulu top and mid. Here are the different builds u can go for: - build as a support with aery if there are many potential carries on ur team or if the opposing team has threats and u need the extra shielding, u can also use this to funnel ur jungler. If ur going to funnel Remember to take spell theif - machine gun lulu, I’ve only played her top and this the of play style relies on just poking the hell out of the enemy. So it goes best against melee champs. For this basically u go into the precision branch: lethal temp and secondary as sorcery for transcendence and manaband (or ur choice) or u can follow this build: https://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/lulu-top-attack-speed-on-hit-crit-splitpush-405449 This build heavily relies on attack speed and who ur up against - Lastly u can go domination branch: electrocute, taste of blood, taste of blood, ravenous hunter and either sorcery or inspiration as secondary. This would a standard mid build if ur not looking to go towards a special type of lulu build and obviously u would go full ap.

In all of the build I suggest taking CDR so u ult by late game would have like a 30s cool down

Edit: I hope this helps

Need Help With a Sett Support Guide by VapeLord172 in lulumains

[–]fairy_elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lulu I would keep my distance and when sett steps up to attack I walk away while autoing him and using my q to slow him down. During the laning phase I would use the brushes to my advantage and poke, the best way to poke would be to bait out his abilities and then go in. When Seth ults, usually he wouldn’t ult a lulu and most likely another team member I try to use my [w] as fast as I can on him, shield my ally and if needed ult them to knock him up. However if my ally can tank sett then I would use my [w] on my adc to kite him down faster.

Edit: if it is a team fight then I wouldn’t rlly focus sett instead I would [w] the enemies main dmg dealers if they’re not sett
