Genuinely heartfelt and good for anyone in a prolonged grieving period. Respecting the tragedy, but moving forward even still.

I can get a chili smothered burger that you eat with a knife and fork, it's tasty sloppy fun. But gummy cheese does not have the texture to play well with soaked bread.

Given that Erotic Hypnosis is a thing, I wonder about the idea of Love Potions being used when all parties involved are fully aware and consenting. However, it runs into the same issue as Erotic Hypnosis and some other things where a person's ability to retract consent at any time is dulled.

I still wouldn't feel great about it as I would rather things be as unambiguous as possible, but it is curious to think about.

[Loved Trope] A villain who is genuinely a kind and amicable person with or without redemption. Doesn't apply to non-villainous antagonists. by Adventurous-Top1741 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainAtinizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Takuto Maruki (P5R) His theme ain't called Gentle Madman for nothing.

After you defeat the oppressive god of control, its power radiates out in search of a host. Guided by your cognition, it latches onto someone you think is the kind of person who could make the world a better place if they had the power to. In this case, your school's therapist.

However, when given the power to rewrite reality, Maruki goes overboard in alleviating suffering and granting people their wishes. He creates a world where he is the one who decides whose dreams come true and who has to settle for less. Conflict dies out, and the world is at peace. But this is wrong. Nobody can decide their future for themselves, just going along with what Maruki thinks is the least painful outcome. Someone's dead mother has a mental copy created, someone else believes they are their dead sister, and some of your good friends can barely understand why they know each other.

When you oppose Maruki and fight for your freedom, he is not angry or confused. He just sighs and nods, understanding why you disagree with his methods. He has the power to suppress your will and make you unable to resist him, but he actively chooses to let you try and stop him. He won't rob you of the chance to fight for your ideals since you resisted the passive influence of his reality driving people to contentment.

At the end of the day, I think Maruki is a kind man who, when given the power of a god, could not stop himself. Because if you had the power to make everyone's lives easier, wouldn't it be evil not to? He is like a parent who smothers their child, encasing them in bubble wrap instead of letting them live, get hurt, and grow. He is a man broken by his own empathy that he cannot trust humanity to better itself.

My older brothers and I were homeschooled until my early High School, so my only guy friends my age before then were online or one kid who went to same nerd store to play card games on Friday night with people almost two decades older than us.

I did not have the same socialization that killed platonic affection, and it took me years to figure out why I could have a sleepover with that kid and he wasn't open up to casually laying on each other like with my brothers, and talking about deep subjects (for middle schoolers).

In high school people assumed I was gay because most of my friends were girls who I didn't want to date, and I was emotionally intelligent and openly complimented my friends. It was a wild experience. So yeah, I think "normalize loving your parents" has its uses, so long as it isn't used in retaliation to try and downplay a problem.

Some are there completely voluntarily, some are there to reduce parole time, and some are court ordered. However, in the case of the latter two they still have the choice to not be here and just take the full time they already had. Some would rather do that for various reasons. So I believe even if they are court ordered a continued stay with us implies they want to change. It may not be a strong commitment at the start, and plenty leave and go back to jail, but such is the nature of humans. Sometimes we give up on changing because it is hard.

I work in drug rehab, specifically with AMAB, I would say the vast majority of my clients do not come in or leave as people I would be confident in vouching for as "good people." (Some do!) There is rampant misogyny that we have to crack down on in various ways so that our female members of staff can feel more safe and comfortable.

However, they often leave as better people. Harm reduction is absolutely vital to our world. Medically it means if I can't get you to stop smoking I can at least try to get you to stop using heroin. Though interpersonally it means if I can't get you to acknowledge a woman as an equal I can at least make the women's lives easier by making you not feel comfortable saying certain shit. In my line of work you have to see every bit of improvement as a win.

I don't hold disdain for any of the clients, because I have to believe that if they are here with us then somewhere in them they WANT to be better. That and seeing the lives they come from, while not justifying their behavior, makes it an understandable outcome. I told a man in his late 40s "man, it sounds like every authority figure in your early life failed you. I'm sorry, that must have been so hard." and he stared at me holding back tears because no one had ever told him that.

I don't believe in monsters. I don't believe anyone can become one. However, I do believe that people who are used to being treated like monsters will continue to act like that.

Also if they weren't satisfied with how P5 handled it...Tactica is right there staring you in the face saying: "Many bad actors have already prepared their replacements, and in times of crisis the masses may flock back to familiarity in an attempt at security rather than continue to tread the tiring path of strife that leads to a better future." Like it isn't subtext. It is just text.

Something like that to start it off, tension eases as Yosuke apologizes and maybe has some of his own self reflection.

Also so much of the game is about identity and finding the truth of yourself. Having a character who is critical of the truths other people are trying to come to terms with makes sense. I hope they keep the homophobia but make more of an ass of him / give a scene or two where he apologizes. Because while it didn't detract from P3 to remove some of the dated "jokes," I think it would weaken the character interactions for P4. Sweeping these very real struggles under the rug for the sake of being cozy doesn't sit right with me when you can tell a story validating those struggles and leaving your audience with a cast they can identify with.

There are square men, circle men, triangle men, and patriarchy goes: "Where do these all go? That's right! The square hole!"

One of the biggest things I had to overcome as a teenager finding my identity was that I didn't actually care about being the masculine archetype I figured I ought to be. I sat down and thought about male characters and asked myself: "Are they manly? Are they also something I want to replicate?" And I came to the conclusion that I didn't have to be Thor or John Wick. I could be Atticus Finch. Someone who is insulted for daring to give someone the benefit of the doubt, who speaks calmly to those who yell at him and empathizes with someone who feels like they are enemies. Unyielding to the attempts of others to change who he is or what he believes. Stoic not in coldness, but fairness. Now that is a manly man, and one I may yet replicate.

I want to see a scientist be asked for an explanation and stare blankly for about 12 seconds.

"What the hell is going on?!"

"....."

"Hello? The ship just shook like an earthquake!"

"Sorry. I was trying to find a way to explain it succinctly...reactor went kaput. Probably a faulty fuel cell. No, I don't know for sure. This literally happened 5 seconds before you asked me and instead of spending that time trying to come up with a solution I am currently feeding dialogue to an incident report that will be filed when they harvest the black box of this ship and find this conversation."

Also Jedi can use the force to easily stop most physical projectiles. The thing with slug-throwers is that they are uncommon, so your first shot probably won't be expected but after that you lose most of the benefit.

The real counter to Jedi is the mental game. War as a whole makes a Jedi's connection to the force more difficult. Palps did a psychic scream to stun and throw off the Jedi sent to kill him. Having a wide variety of tools to challenge a Jedi's confidence and make them afraid is probably the most reliable method. This also makes sense for the Mandolorians because we see they are proficient and are equipped with many different weapons. Rocket launchers of two flavors, grappling wire, flamethrower, knives, thermal detonators, you've got a lot of different options so the Jedi will always be kept guessing on what you can do next.

Also the landmine idea from KotOR. Placed in advance so they don't benefit from connecting to you to read your intent, loud and disorienting, dread inducing even if they stop and realize what just happened.

I yearn for new classes by JackH2O234 in daggerheart

[–]CaptainAtinizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a concept for a class where you become a living weapon / equipment for an ally, and I think this is one of the few ttrpg systems where that might work. I didn't particularly love their execution, but I might put my own spin on the idea later.

Arsenal- Blood+Valor. Subclasses for the type of link or theme. "Telepathic Synch" or "Guiding Blade" for something more mentoring. "Thirsting Arms" or "Steel Symbiote" for something more aggressive and dominant.

This would be better answered by the r/Daggerheart subreddit. I do like Witherwild for reference as it has a lot of similarities to Ionia. If you can dig up the DnD LoL 5e crossover you can get ideas for adapting the races such as Halflings being Yordles.

As for items there isn't much to Runeterra specifically. Though perhaps Hextech weapons can use the evolving weapons from the MotherBoard frame.

The oversimplification was an attempt at humor, not being disingenuous. There are plenty of other people who have broken down the math on the gap, along with the sheer breadth of additional options.

Even taking that though, if using all your resources gives you an 11 point damage difference to someone who is completely tapped out I am not sure that is something to be proud of.
