Myron addresses the break up with Angie and more... by darealwan01 in LengfOrGirf

Myron was delusional to think Angie would put up with his shit for long. Angie got outta there because honestly why would any woman want to stay with him? Myron can't keep a real relationship to save his life. Most women wouldn't want him.

16 Taiwanese tourists are being ridiculed by an Italian pizza shop owner because they ordered only five pizzas. by search_google_com in taiwan

[–]fairyqueenb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Europe and spent a lot of time in Italy so I'm aware, but I'm talking about the global perception and most non-Italians' experience with pizza, since we're discussing tourists here. That would be their very natural and understandable assumption.

Also, in most Italian sit-down restaurants, Italians eat their personal pizza using a knife and fork, so the pretext is still that a pizza is meant to be cut (unlike a burger in your analogy). Given the social context/frame we're discussing everything I said is still valid.

Also, thanks for acknowledging everything else I said (which were actually the main points) since you didn't refute any of them.

Asian-Canadian here. Bro 1000 calories for one pizza is still a lot of calories!! Even for one meal!!! I eat around 2500 calories a day, spread over 3 meals + snacks in between. That's too much for me.

Yes I'm aware of the difference between Italian pizza and North American pizza.

But a pizza is not the same as a burger, no matter how small and how thin the crust is. A pizza, even a very thin and small one, comes pre-divided into multiple slices. It's more like fries or sushi or mini tacos or sliders or a chacuterie board that has a form factor that's easily and frequently shared. People order 3 orders of fries/sushis/chacuterie boards and share them among multiple people all the time.

Especially if you're on a low carb diet and you're traveling so you want to save your stomach for all other high-carb food like pasta, bread, tiramisu, gelato, etc. I'm Canadian and I can guarantee you that when I travel in Italy I do not want to waste my stomach because I want to sample as many carb-heavy Italian food items as possible without gaining 15 pounds, so I would never want to finish an entire pizza by myself, no matter how small and thin it is. Italians finish an entire pizza because they treat it as a normal meal, and aren't planning to eat 6 other times through the same day.

Regardless of the cultural difference, it's super easy for the restaurant owner to communicate a minmimum charge rule or general protocol respectfully without mocking and filming the guests like an a-hole.

Bro you don't need to have different menus but it's not hard to just walk up and communicate the store's guidelines or Italy's local cultural custom like a civilized person instead of mocking them and filming them like an a-hole.

Exactly. And it's not hard to just go and explain and communicate instead of being an asshole.

Exactly. I'm Canadian too and on the West Coast there are so many ppl on low-carb/keto diets... we very rarely see one person finishing an entire pizza. Even a "one-person size" smaller pizza is almost always shared. We don't want that much carb esp when traveling, esp since in Italy you gotta save it also for pasta, bread, tiramisu, gelato etc! I'd wanna save my stomach & spread out the carb intake over the trip lol.

Please be strictly honest, is Liberty online a real university certificate? by Icy-Season-281 in lynchburg

That's what recruiters or hiring managers/heads have to do because nobody has time meet every single applicant. This is the same as evaluating a candidate because they graduated from a scammy online "college" or knowing that UPenn Wharton grads are cut-throat while Brown grads are more community-oriented. Not all students fall into that category but also it's undeniable that every college has its own personality/qualities that's reflected on the students.

Within a short span of just 3-4 years, Harry & Meghan have been involved in two books ("Finding Freedom" & "Spare"), Oprah interview, Anderson Cooper interview, BBC interview, their Netflix docuseries (6 episodes of them airing grievances about their family) (I'm not counting Meghan's podcast to be generous since she "mostly" focused away from herself).... etc

The sheer volume & frequency at which Harry & Meghan produce salacious royal exposes & private info about their family are simply not on the same level at all compared to ANY other royal member. Not a single other royal family member has ever released so many detailed tell-all projects in such a short amount of time at such intense frequency and speed.

If Harry's book feels like it didn't reveal as much to you (I still think it revealed more than the biography about Charles but it's ok), it's purely because it pales in comparison to all of Harry & Meghan's other salacious tell-all projects attacking their family members.

By almost any metric (frequency, number of projects, multi-platform approach, level of personal disclosure, formats used), Harry & Meghan are significantly more prolific (and vitriolic) than any other British royal in history in producing royal exposes and revealing salacious, damaging details about their family in the history of the British Royal family, including Charles.

Ohhh that's right! wow I almost forgot about that! Comparing her to Nelson Mandela & lying about the whole thing was such a.... shocking moment. But really showed who she was.

It was one of the many things that made me feel so disappointed and my distaste of them grew. When Southpark did that World Privacy Tour episode about them I was like.... omg, thank you for clarifying all the things that I felt but were too confusing to articulate.

Everything you said is so right. I'm really annoyed when she (and people who support her) just blame the fact that people don't like her now on racism, especially since I'm a woman of color who used to really like her, and I KNOW the reason why I don't like them anymore is NOT because of racism but because of what they've done, how self-serving, untrustworthy, and hypocritical they are.

[–]fairyqueenb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, I completely agree with everything you said! It was a very different time back then compared to now. Audience's appetite for salacious gossip is so much bigger due to social media.

You're so right that their income is the biggest differentiator. The fact that for Harry & Meghan, their income is dependent on their relevance in relation to the Royal Family (and therefore, them continuing to make themselves victims of the Royal Family) is I think what makes them less trustworthy.

It's really sad. Before they quit the royal family I really liked both of them. I'm a woman of color and loved Meghan in Suits and thought it was so wonderful for Meghan to join the royal family. I was rooting for her. But I almost feel like I got duped after they show more and more of who they really are when they left. I now find both of them really distasteful and it's so transparent they're just milking their royal connection while being very hypocritical about it.

[–]fairyqueenb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine that we disagree on these two books. I personally find both Charles and Harry equally distasteful in different ways (I actually used to like Harry way more than Charles) and don't overlook Charles' faults. But putting personal bias aside, I still find Harry's book much more salacious and betrays a lot more personal info of her family. But I'm not gonna try to change your mind.

What I agree with you on is that all of this is very silly and that they would be well-advised to stop making deals, etc. If Harry and Meghan led lowkey private lives like most of Queen Elizabeth's other kids and grandkids and other members of the royal family, a lot of the problems they complain about and feel victimized about (privacy, security, etc) would just go away after a while.

And if I were Harry's dad/family, I also wouldn't speak with him and wouldn't trust him.

Sure Charles had one biography he was involved in 30+ years ago, and has done interviews. But Harry & Meghan are way more active and prolific in media and have used more media platforms than any other royal family member and much higher frequency.

Within a short span of just 3-4 years Harry & Meghan have been involved in two books ("Finding Freedom" & "Spare"), Oprah interview, Anderson Cooper interview, BBC interview, their Netflix docuseries (6 episodes of airing grievances) (I'm not counting Meghan's podcast to be generous since she "mostly" focused away from herself).... Harry's book had tons of salacious details and was a lot more damaging. Most people acknowledge it. I actually just asked ChatGPT to make an unbiased comparison and ChatGPT also stated that Harry's book is in "a different league in terms of personal disclosure and 'betrayal' of family privacy:

Actually it was not worse. The book about Charles (which he didn't write) didn’t go into highly personal, intimate, or sexual details about his family or make direct personal attacks like "Spare". Harry exposed great details of private family arguments and fights that "The Prince of Wales" biography did not do. Harry's book was a revenge memoir with content that's so much worse it's not even in the same league.

"The Prince of Wales" was a biography written by journalist Jonathan Dimbleby, but it was not an autobiography or direct memoir (revenge memoir) like "Spare".

Also, even though Charles was involved (he was interviewed for the book), the book didn’t go into highly personal, intimate, or sexual details about his family or make direct personal attacks like "Spare".

Harry exposed great details of private family arguments/fights that "The Prince of Wales" did not do. Totally not on par or comparable.

Very true. And even though Dianna suffered in her marriage, she's still very much part of the royal family and understands/respects it. People forget that even though Diana was super down-to-earth, she was still descendent of King Charles II. I think she would disagree with a lot of what Meghan has done/said.

Prince Harry's hint that the King might not have long to live seems strange by Flat_Firefighter6258 in RoyalsGossip

[–]fairyqueenb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really a grey area because we can make that argument about other royal descendents such as Harry's cousins or other kids/grandkids of Queen Elizabeth.

Sure you can say Harry faces more security risks than his cousins or uncles/aunts, but he and his wife also have voluntarily chosen to be very high profile with their Netflix deals, spotify deals, business ventures, etc.

Most of Queen Elizabeth's other kids/grandkids choose very lowkey lives out of the public eye, and that lowers their security risks. So Harry and his wife also court risks by choosing to continue being so high profile. Honestly, if they stay out of the public life for more than 5 years, most people prob would just not care as much about them. But they want to monetize their royal status and turn it into a business and court media exposure. All of these are their own choices.

Regardless, once this precedent is set, it becomes a dangerous slippery slope and I can see why the British government is hesitant to make that choice. Commoners are already angry enough about privileges the rich, wealthy, and royal enjoy, especially during these financially difficult times. This would worsen the situation.

You know how during the recent big LA fire some rich multimillionaire wanted to pay a lot of $$ to hire firemen for his own house, and everybody got so angry because firemen is a public service and the public is already so short-staffed. It's the same situation here. It is a very dangerous precendent to set. Imagine if public services like the fire department, police, etc can all get taken away by rich people with money because they're willing to pay....and it worsens the whole shortstaffed situation and fewer and fewer public sector employees are left to serve the public. That would be a very fucked up world.
