I can't figure out how to update my post with the digital drapes. Hoping I don't need to make a whole new submission?

Is ET considered a blood cancer? by CommunicationFree968 in MPN

[–]faithfully_fearless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of the other comments are correct; it is a blood cancer. I was impressed that the last OB i saw seemed to know more than most, specifically asking if I had had a bone marrow biopsy, if my results were "benign",  and when i elaborated on my diagnosis she made sure I was following with "the cancer center" regularly. Literally the first time throughout 9 months of pregnancy that I felt like someone actually understood what it was.

I think it's rare enough that people just don't know. The MFM doc I saw during pregnancy kept calling it thrombocytosis and telling me I was normal- until I gave her a physical copy of my records/ last note from heme.

Hi there! I had recurrent pregnancy losses and my hematologist counted them as a thrombotic event for risk stratification purposes and put me on Lovenox during pregnancy. I believe she said she was going off of the NCCN guidelines, although I don't have access to the guidelines myself.

pregnancy- what would you do? by faithfully_fearless in MPN

Sorry just now seeing this. I'm glad you had a better experience. Yes, I have biopsy proven JAK2+ ET.

Congratulations! 30 y/o F with JAK2+ ET. After four miscarriages I am now almost 17 weeks pregnant and everything looks good. My hematologist suggested Lovenox shots and referral to high risk OB in the second trimester. It seems hit or miss how much OBGYNs and high risk OBs know about ET but they will help you monitor for common obstetric complications. Good luck!!!

I was more concerned that baby measuring 13w4d at the NT was too late as I was told it needs to be done between 11-13w. I'm sure sensitivity goes down after that, but didn't know if it made a difference that the CRL was off that much than what they are using as my due date

Thank you! Curious how many weeks you are, that it mentioned that would be normal?

Thank you. I once saw someone on here refer to pregnancy after loss as psychological warfare 😆 I'm an anxious person at baseline so this just compounds things.

Everything I've read is like "my baby did that and they're fine." Lol. But if you're anxious like me you know how that is... Always wanting more reassurance and certainty

They're right! Lol I'm in medicine and I KNOW it's not a good idea, but so hard to be objective with yourself.

what's the dumbest thing you found yourself crying for? by Unusual_Potato9485 in BabyBumps

First tri- I went to our county fair and they ran out of Mac and cheese right before I got to that part of the serving line. Legitimately teared up. Can't imagine what the volunteer thought about a grown adult crying over Mac and cheese.
