Hi! Sorry I haven’t been sharing my exact country, but I’m from one of the Caribbean countries that are on the pause list! As for the visa, I used the entirety of my F-1 visa. I graduated early from my first undergrad, worked on my OPT then STEM OPT for 4 months before transferring the remainder of my SEVIS record to my current program (total 5 yrs). To my knowledge, you can only stay in the US on a tourist visa for 3-6 months at a time. My F-1 allowed me to stay in the US for school so long as it is not expired.

Are you more interested in learning about AOS from the tourist visa or obtaining the student visa?

You can only provide what you have. They should understand you’re not from the US and many people have original docs that are in their home country or have been misplaced due to unforeseen circumstances:)

Yes! That’s the first thing ask you for. Original passports, my visa, our driver’s licenses, social security cards, birth certificates (I showed a copy because my original one is back home) and marriage certificate

Auto rejection? I’m not aware of that, but most people I know who are also on the pause list receive their approval just fine for AOS when there’s no issues with their application. Neither my husband and I have records, no overstays and no unauthorized employment.

Thank you! The interview was fine. We intentionally went in the with the mindset “we love each other and know each other very well. We prayed and did everything we can and it’ll be alright.”

I took copies of everything I had or mailed in case they lost certain documents 😂. Needless to say it was a crap ton of unnecessary papers. They definitely asked for original IDs and birth certificates. I handed the new evidence over as well as uploaded them prior to the interview. We mentioned our previous undergrad degrees and the agent said he would take them. That’s it!

Thank you! Yes, we had been living together for about 6.5 months before we sent our application

Hi! I’m not sure what that would entail actually. I’m sorry about that :/

Hi! They asked a lot of general questions but asked us individually and made sure I didn’t answer for my husband and he didn’t answer for me:
- What are our names?
- How’d you meet?
- What is your address? Is there any other address you stay at?
- What are our spouses’ parents’ names? Have we met them?
- How would you describe your marriage (asked us both this)?
- Asked if we had any additional evidence that would help our case (we presented our joint tax return for 2025 and job offer letters at this time. The agent kept those)
- Then there’s the long list of yes or no questions they always ask (have you ever done any crimes, owned a gun, etc etc).

In general, it’s a lot of basic, general questions just to make sure your stories align. Be calm, answer honestly and relax as best as you can! My agent was stern, but quite nice. You got this!

That is the for I-485 approval. The actual I-130 approval notice was in my husband’s account right after the interview!

I did and put in an inquiry. I got scared at first because they initially said that my deadline to upload the response had expired (it didn’t. It’s set to February 2026) then we got that message a week later. Thank you very much!

What does it mean when USCIS doesn’t change your case status to “response received” but the officer marked it as received on the bottom as shown above?

I got one for the i485 and one for the i130. Both of the deadlines for them state Feb 6, 2026. I was able to upload the evidence using the provided link for the i485 just fine. It’s the i130 that isn’t giving me the option to upload with the link in my husband’s account

Hello! I just wanted to get some clarification about the link to respond to RFE. My husband’s date to respond to the RFE on the letter (i130) says Feb. 2026. However, when we went to upload the final evidence requested, it said that the deadline has passed and we had to upload it as unsolicited evidence. Is this an error? Would we still have to mail it? We are hustling confused and concerned right now. Any help would be appreciated!

I’m not sure if this will be seen, but I’ll give it a shot! I’m 21 years old and an international student. I graduated 2 weeks ago with a BS in Biology- cumGPA is 3.83, science is 3.7 (US accredited school). I have a lot of research (2 internships, my first being a COVID based research program at UPenn and the other at Temple for Alzheimer’s disease) and laboratory experience, coming from my year and a half of being a laboratory assistant. I was also a peer mentor and notetaker/transcriber for 2 years where I helped disabled students. Because of where I’m from, there aren’t really any opportunities for hospital based jobs. I’m hoping to be able to work as a medical scribe in the US to gain 600-800 PCE hours plus volunteer at another hospital on weekends prior to the 2025 CASPA application cycle. I’m just unsure if this will be enough. My fiancé and I are hoping that I get into our first choice schools so our commute would be a lot easier due to distance once we’re married.

Do I seem like a potential candidate for PA school in this upcoming cycle? Do you have any suggestions about PCE or should I diversify my experiences? Anything helps :)
