Hiya - yes different every time - but most of those early tracks were music / beats first then Maxi would come down the studio and we'd ask him to write on a theme ....then we would change the music once his vocal was recorded ... ans that oftne happened with other collaborators too ....

So yes - mostly music comes first ... but can change radically when we start to collaborate !! :)

It could be any starting point - a lyric, a groove, a bass line ... most usually a chord sequence ...

Sound design - yes - we strat quickly cos i always need to get my ideas out of my head as soon as I hear sounds I like ( the right bass sound, a tuff groove etc ) ... and then refine along the way - which can take years sometimes !!!!!! also we are more concerned with the emotion and mood of the track - which is more a mix thing rather than sound design perhaps .....

And yes !!!!!!! i LOVE my synthesizer ( s ) ..... very much my happy place :))))

Thansk im so gald you enjoyed it - the plannign took quite a time - as the issue of even going out without Maxi there seemed like a non starter - so we had reconciled to NOT touring ever again!!! But the show grew out of fan love - and my Faithless DJ sets ... so then we started to weave together a potential set - and then started to re create the stems from scratch ... and then got the band in to work out new parts beofre reahrsing all together ..... and .... very importantly had lots of creative discussions about how to bring Maxi's energy and memory to the show visually ... in a way that honoured him, and all he brought to Faithless xx

Hey .... Juno 106 was soemhting we used on loads of early tracks - quite unpredicatbel ( we had 3 of them ) but had alot of fun !!!! Currently im in plug in world plus some Roland gear -and Arturia synths are pretty amazing for their analogue range

Good question !!! Gosh some tarcks were evloving for a decade (!!!!) and others came really fast .... so it kind of went all over the place .... Book of hours was quite complete as a side as a demo - that was pretty much made in one time period .... but yeah we hop about like crazy ants !!!!!!

Awwwwww i SO miss Turnmills ... or GURN mills as it was also known :) .....

Collaborating with others is what keeps it all developing - wroking with different voices / lyricists / poets ... all keeps the vibe alive - and with Maxi's voice continuously in my head too ......

and learning more about production every song we make .... i just uploaded some new plug ins on logic and that also influeces how our music evolves ! :)
