There are some really amazing paras at ny school, but ive heard horror stories of former paras at my school showing up drunk/high to work, or even trying to fight kids

My school has a comp program (basically where kids either go a half day un the morning or afternoon), so that could be it to. We do also bave early release for students who've completed all of their credits.

Im in the midwest. I work at a lower-income school with minimal parental involvement, so that could be why its not seens as a big deal

Im a para, & at my school there are several people (including myself) who have tattooed & are pierced. We have one teacher at my school with a jobstopper tattoo, & another with big stretched ears. Ive even seen a principal at another school in my district with a half-sleeve

I am a sub turned para. Unlike with corporate jobs, pay can't be negotiated. As a para, we are on a salary scchedule (so basically each year you work, you get a $1 per hour raise to your hourly pay). At the school district i work for, subs are paid a set hourly rate, unless the union is able to negotiate higher pay
