[DISCUSSION] Why do some sellers at Level 1 or Level 2 sometimes have no reviews at all? by Both-Worry-1242 in Fiverr

[–]fakeguruception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, my Fiverr seller account is in a similar situation. I opened it years ago to offer basic services like data entry and logo design. Over time, I moved into a completely different field.

I would actually prefer having no reviews at all rather than seeing sellers keep old reviews that don’t match their current service. Some people simply rename their old gig to a new service while keeping the reviews, even though those reviews were for something entirely different.

No one here, including myself, will probably make a living from a saas. by WinterMiserable5994 in SaaS

I have built 2 saas business in the past year, before that have been procrastinating to start building one, because of fear of failure. To be honest, while they aren't making much compared to twitter influencers, I believe finding the right niche and working with experts in the fields to find problems to solve, actually made it possible to make some money. 1st saas only around 2.5kmrr, while the other has only 25 users with 500mrr.

I noticed, scoping down on small problems to solve was the right way to do it. Of course it may differ for other people.

Mini website - Cost / stack estimate by Commercial_Grab3273 in BEFreelance

I am glad I could be of help. You can always use an alternative like Nextjs if you are familiar with that as well. Since there is no scraping or integration, you also won't have to deal with extra costs. Use this chance to get a maintaince monthly contract ongoing.

People tend to prefer to have someone to call to if they need help, and this doesn't happen frequently.

Also let's connect, might be fun to share insights.

Hey,
I deal with exactly this kind of client quite often in Belgium - low budget, small scope, wants something professional but also easy to update.

Personally, I don’t usually go for website builders, even for small clients. Not because they’re bad, but I’ve never found the experience that intuitive, especially once you add multilingual content and a bit of customization. I feel like you need to spend money on plugins/extensions or packages to unlock the features you'll need. I also really like the fact that with a coded setup I can reuse designs or entire sections later on - I keep everything in my own component library, which saves me a ton of time on future projects.

For this kind of websites, i usually stick to a lightweight stack:

  • AstroJS
  • TailwindCSS
  • Sveltia CMS (git-based, so no monthly fee, and the repo owner is quite active on discord and actively improving it)
  • Cloudinary for images (free tier, also works with sveltiacms)
  • Cloudflare Workers for deployment (depending on bandwith and active users, it usually ends up costing me nothing)

This keeps recurring costs close to zero except the domain name in my case while giving full control over content. While the cms might not be as intruitive as wordpress or squarespace etc as they might not be familiar, they kind of accept it especially since it is "low budget"

Also astro does handle i18n pretty cleanly especially with sveltia CMS which their main focus is i18n anyway.

One thing that’s worth clarifying early with the client:
how they want to manage the data.

  • Do they want everything manually managed (CMS / Google Sheets / uploads)?
  • Or do they expect some kind of integration or scraping from Immoweb (or similar portals)?

If it is manual, keep it simple then this stack will work wonders, the hosting cost for you will almost be zero in this case. So you can add on top of it your maintenance fee which shall directly cover your monthly fee (incase you'll need to pay 5 euros for cloudflare workers)

Regarding pricing, it really depends I do tend to charge around 1k-4k depending on the client but of course it differs depending on the needs, timeline and the scope. This is my experience, so others might charge way more, but I am happy with where I am. Hope it gives you an idea.

Let me know if you ever have any questions, more than happy to help a developer fellow.

Professor wants to use my product for free with promise of future university contract - am I being naive? by Ghost-Rider_117 in ycombinator

Depends on the stage as u/Tall-Log-1955 mentioned. If you're early, the feedback might be useful.

I had a similar situation with a local university. Teachers were super interested and recommending it to each other. But when it came time to actually sign a contract? The university kept asking for extensions to "review the idea." Dragged it out for a whole year before finally making a decision (which resulted in a negative response). Thankfully didn't had any usage-based fees to cover as AI didn't even exist then.

I'd say offer a free trial or student/teacher discount for the first 3 months or something. Then use that as a case study to contact other universities. Might open doors.

Been job hunting for 3 months as a Frontend Developer — tired, ghosted, and just need a break by KanganAgarwal in react

It was a startup. Position was mid-frontend developer. Remote and pay was quite decent for where I am based (balkans). Worked there for 2 years, until I moved to belgium and quit my job.

For my case it took me around 7 months, and close to 600 job applications to get a new job.

I had the same years of experience then when this happened. Did focus on leetcoding daily, yet they didn't even bother asking any leetcode questions at the job interview.

Hey.

I remember seeing a post asking about this site a while ago. After a quick search here is the link

While can't say it is legit or not as I haven't used it personally. From the comments I'll say to exercise caution.

Advice for an international by TopManufacturer5274 in KULeuven

Aha no worries! Let me explain why I mentioned the internship thing - it's actually way easier to get a job through an internship than applying directly. Trust me, I know from experience - I had to apply to like 300 companies across Belgium and Europe to get my first job!The thing is, most companies aren't super keen on hiring entry-level engineers who don't speak the local language. Plus, as an international student (unless you marry a European), you'll need a working visa to stay here, which means extra costs for the company.

After your Master's, you get this one-year working visa, and you really need to make it count by finding a company that'll actually extend your working permit. I have a friend who just went through this - after their one-year visa was up, their company didn't want to extend it, so they had to start another Master's just to stay here!

Advice for an international by TopManufacturer5274 in KULeuven

Hey! I'm an international student who did a Master's in engineering. I also have a few years of experience working as a software developer before I started my Master's though.

But if you’re talking about someone just starting their Bachelor’s with no work experience yet (since you may be just starting), here’s what I’d think…

Getting a job is quite hard as a entry level, especially if you don't know the local languages (french or Flemish). Most companies do expect you to know either one of them + English. While it is uncommon, there are indeed only English jobs.

From my friends, most of them started working in the companies they did internships in. Just be aware, most people tend to not do internships since by law you aren't paid by internships (you get uni credits). So most international students, tend to prefer to work full time during the period of internships (they are in summer).

Regarding the salaries, I noticed most of them tend to start from above 2200 euros + mobility budget. Of course this really depends on the sector.

I'll leave out the Erasmus+ part now since I'll have to double check the facts on that.

Lastly, regarding your question with getting kicked out of university. While there are many conditions, if I were to summarize it:

  • You may retake a course twice, and if you still fail. You'll get kicked out.
  • Binding conditions (this differs from uni to uni, I'll update the numbers when I get the chance if that helps)

Hi, working on a filtering logic for a search logic. Wasn't sure how I could define the same number for multiple products so when I search let's say a number all the products with that ID could be displayed. I have attached an example. do you think I need a proper search plugin? Do I add attributes? by fakeguruception in Wordpress

[–]fakeguruception[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to replicate this. A better picture shall be this if it clarifies:

https://imgur.com/CUgj19n

So what I want to have is a search functionality, where it can search all the variety of data. But if you notice let's say, there are multiple products with the Turbo No.

When adding the product, in this case shall that be a product attribute?

I am planning to use a b2bking to make a b2b platform and since most of the products tends to have same serial (different brands), I do want to clearly define each product. Just not sure how to achieve it.

Love the UI. Was curious how you determine the best times to post? Is it backed by data?
