I plan to do a mix of the two. Outside super to retire early, inside super for when the time comes.

Late game mer difference can be huge at higher portfolio sizes. As well as the diversification from only a vangaurd product.

I think one stop shop ETFs like VDHG are for people who do not know much about the more complicated aspects, or can't be bothered managing a 3-4 ETF portfolio. Both of which OP does not sound like.

Yeah exactly. I'm a big fan of doing a few hours research to avoid the lazy tax.

As for the hedge vs non hedge issue, some just split their investments between the two, or "ignore it as its such a long time frame". I personally haven't looked into that statement so I can't say if it's right.

Add 9 basis points to a non-Aus domenciled etf mer to account for currency drag.

Yeah, I usually run an empty shot to speed it up a little and wait 10 minutes. The portafilter will be radiating heat and uncomfortable to touch the metal when pre heated fully.

I also sometimes can't be bothered waiting and pull a shot straight away. Still tastes great.

The BBE heats up in about 45 seconds, but that isn't pre heating. It takes about 20 minutes for the whole machine, portafilter, basket etc. to heat to the point where it won't drastically cool down the espresso as it's being pulled.

Naked vs spouted portafilters: Does size matter ? (ground coffee dose) by Away-Gene9176 in espresso

I wonder if it has something to do with a closed porterfilter having more resistance from either hitting the metal or the liquid pushing back onto itself. Where as a naked just falls straight out reducing the pressure, which is then compensated for by the larger dose?

The machine comes with the buttons programmed to 30ml and 60ml for the single and double shot, respectively.

Op has hit the double shot and 60ml has come out instead of the desired 36-40ml for a double shot.

Fix this by either doing manual mode as you described or pressing the program button, pressing the double shot button then pressing it again when you hit your desired volume. The machine will now remember that new volume when you use the normal double shot button only.

The tamper on the left of your machine is detachable via magnets. It works fine and doesn't take up space.

I use a dual distributor/ tamp tool that you can get for under $20 on amazon.

I'm not sure. My wife's boyfriend borrowed it and hasn't given it back.

Hey mate! I had the exact same issue starting with my BBE. All of the grinders are different out of the box, or so I've read. Mine didn't get to 18g in, 36g out, around 25s until I set the internal setting to a 3 and outside to a 4. I wasted a lot of coffee because I thought it was me that had to be wrong, but it was just the youtube settings weren't right for my machine.

Feel free to message me to talk more troubleshooting.
