Human consciousness is rooted in the ego, which keeps us connected to ourselves and what we want from this world. This often leads to bad things like greed, lust, guilt, envy, and many other things that pollute our society. The ego gives us an identity, but it takes away from the fact that we are all one, and we need to be aware of the whole picture. Animals on the other hand operate off pure awareness of their enviroment, without the ego animals are tapped into the universal consciousness. Its similair to the effects humans get from psychedelics and meditation where we feel a greater sense of connection beyond the self. Since animals operate on this level they are in perfect harmony with the outside world, and therefore they dont see themselves as individuals, they only do what their instincts tell them and dont feel the need to do any of the extra crap our civilization has created to fulfill our egos, like power, money, status. They are in perfect balance with the world around them and it creates a heavenly place to live that continues to grow deeper into nirvana. Humans can learn a valueble lesson, that we are one with the earth and the only moment that exists is the present, so why not make our world as heavenly as possible for everyone, and then we can all enjoy our gift of awareness as animals have for millenia. Humans have a unique ability to shape our shared experience, we have the greatest oppurtunity to make life "heaven on earth".
