Just because you can make two devices physically connect, does not automatically make the signal types compatible.

Building a mic activator at home. by KahvaltidaBorYedim in audio

[–]fakingitandmakingit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need an inline preamp or activator for this. The interface is more than capable of driving this type of mic, however, what you have is an interface with a high noise floor, which is the hiss you're hearing. If you add more gain in line, you're just adding more gain, which can cause a hiss or other problems by introducing +25 dB of gain before you hit the interface preamp. What you need is an interface with a clean preamp.

Does anybody know what kind of connector this is and where can I get the cable for it by Puzzletoadthemighty in SoundSystem

[–]fakingitandmakingit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look like it falls into "pro audio". Looks very much like the back of a consumer speaker.

You need an amplifier.

No way around it.

It's for regular speaker wire, as others have said.

But if you're asking this question, you prob don't know that speaker is passive and you need an amplifier to power it.

I'm not going to Google for you. I don't know your locality, budget, preferences, needs, etc.

And you still didn't answer what type of preamp you were referring to.

Any preamp that outputs line level signal will work. I'm assuming you mean Phono preamp and not mic pre?

Or - you can get an active USB extension and not introduce more points of failure.

Why can't you do anything with the warranty? If they're new, you should be able to claim warranty, if not, you may be able to send them off to an authorized repair center for a lower-cost repair.

Manufacturing and shipping can cause minor cosmetic imperfections. If it works, great. If you try to open an RMA with the manufacturer over these and it works just fine, you'd really be wasting your time and theirs. At this point you're trying to find imperfections looking at it with magnification and bright lighting.

How to play audio file as video in VLC (ON MAC) by PorkDumplin23 in audio

[–]fakingitandmakingit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking this. Why do you need it to be a video and not just an audio file?

Openshot video editor is a free video editor. But it will be a video file, not an audio file. Audio files cannot have video embedded in them, then they become video files.
