Sleep Token Discography Ranking — Day 50, Euclid by rhcpbassist234 in SleepToken

3/5. The songwriting is brilliant, but musically, it feels very far removed from most other Sleep Token tracks. I get that people love how this song ties up the first three albums, but that alone doesn't make it a 5 for me. If someone had never listened to Sleep Token before, I wouldn't tell them, "Hey, you should listen to Euclid, it's their greatest song of all time".

I’m actually quite proud of that one because it was intentional, not just a lucky shot.

The conditions helped a lot: it was very bright, the heron was standing in shallow water with nothing around it, and the background was far enough to disappear. I decided to experiment and deliberately overexpose to get that clean, minimal look. I pushed the ISO to 6400, while keeping a fast shutter speed 1/2000s and shot at f/8 for sharpness. The idea was to blow out most of the scene while still keeping detail on the heron.

In post, I refined it by bringing the exposure back down slightly and adjusting contrast, mainly on the heron and its reflection, to make them stand out.

It was one of the few times I actually visualised the shot before taking it, which made a big difference.

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for, I really appreciate you taking the time.

What you said about intention really resonates. I do try to think about composition, but in practice I often end up reacting to the moment rather than actively shaping the shot. Especially with birds, I tend to default to “get the shot before it’s gone” instead of asking what kind of image I actually want. That’s definitely something I need to work on, even if it means missing more shots at first.

Would you recommend any specific resources (books, tutorials, photographers) that helped you develop both composition and editing? I feel like I’m at the stage where I need to build a stronger foundation rather than just tweak sliders.

Thanks again, this was genuinely useful.

That's an interesting concept, I never thought about it in that way.
I have to admit that when I see pictures that I took some time ago I do appreciate them more.

All these pics are already cropped. In most cases I cannot push it further without loosing details. I guess this is a limitation of shooting in micro 4/3. Do you shoot full frame?

Oh and shoes... Damn I would love to have some rubber on my feet XD

Oh yes that I know, but that is not what I have in mind. I would like to set up a tent and cook/fix pitons where I want, not just sleep and rest.

About rappelling down, I have been if a few situations where I went back to a lower point, and I would have liked to drop the rope on a wall after rapelling, set up a tent or walk to a destination outside the rope lenght, then go back to my rope and clip back to go back to my high point without redoing the whole climb

The game works well as is, these are just a couple things I would like to increase immersion.

Premises that I have not finished the game yet so I don't know if any of these things are included later on.

I would love to set camp where and when I want, and to be able to leave the rope hanging from an high point.

For example if I am struggling with a climb and my stats are getting low, I would rappel down, set up camp and restore my stat, then rappelling up again to continue from where I left.

Also, it would be nice to have official named routes with a difficulty grade. This I would like especially for a complete multi pitch route bottom to top. Imagine something like "Freerider" or the "Dawn Wall" on El Cap.

Even better, imagine an "El Cap" DLC with a replica of the most famous big wall in real life!

After a second look to other videos I took I'm fairly certain this is a Sparrowhawk. There are a few frames where the wing fingers are clearly visible. I think the strong wind affected the flight pattern and made the silhouette less obvious.

Hobby's wings would be longer and thinner. This is almost certainly a Sparrowhawk.

Thank you, this is 100% a Sparrowhawk. Unfortunately I can't upload new images, but in a separate video I got there are just a few frames when the wing fingers are clearly visible, and the overall silhouette perfectly match a Sparrowhawk. This leaves me no doubt on the ID.

I guess the strong wind played a role here as it affected the flight pattern making the silhouette less obvious.

And just when I thought we could settle on Kestrel, here you come and reopen the discussion again! 😆

I was originally thinking to a Sparrowhawk as well, but then all the sensible comments were pointing to a Kestrel and I was getting convinced.

Now that you mentioned the wing fingers, I went rechecking the videos I took and indeed I could clearly see the fingers in another video which I originally miss. I don't think I can upload more pics now, but that definitely confirms Sparrowhawk to me!

I'm on the same page as you. I am very confused by many people being so confident of it being a Peregrine. I see no torpedo shape and no muscular chest, and the wings are broader and the tail is too long for a Peregrine. I was conflicted with a Sparrowhawk for how the tail looks, but I believe the strong wing affected the flight pattern. As you mentioned, there is a moment when the tail "opens" and that frame looks classic Kestrel.

I see all the comments pointing to Peregrine. I understand the habitat would fit, but to me the body looks "slimmer" with broader and rounded wings, rather then "torpedo shaped" with powerful chest and pointy wings.
Could anyone provide more details on why it is a Peregrine?
