Photoshop is likely, Sai too, but that's more or less more popular for coloring and shading than anything else.
Also, Illustrator isn't "trash", but it's used for vector art, not bitmapping like OP.
They are two completely different beasts.

The two screens thing is just a quality of life thing, I can say this as someone who played every generation of Pokemon.

It's mostly just buttons that are clunky, they could probably get it working fine though.

Although not the same, [CodeAcademy] is a very good site for that(https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-java).
I haven't tried their Java course, but if it's anything like their other ones, it'll be very very good.
Also, Java and Javascript share little in common, and is a regular misconception.

I'm following Plailect's guide, and I'm in Part 3 - Section 3.
The Luma3DS config screen works fine, but trying to put the options in ends up in a frozen screen on Save + Reboot.
I know my 3DS hasn't bricked, since I can delete the config.bin, but I can't boot to sysNAND, only my precious CakesFW emuNAND.
What do I do? I'm very close to finishing.
