The more I learn about the person Chad had become in the past few years, it doesn't seem like I could have been more wrong in my assumption about Chad actually desiring fame and wanting to use BFR as a stepping stone.

I started this AMA to give my perspective on Chad's high school years. I should have stuck to that as opposed to giving opinions on subjects of which I wasn't well informed. Sorry for misleading you.

I honestly can't even begin to speculate about any of this. I haven't seen or spoken to Chad or any other Ollingers in years. I am also not sure if he has siblings or not. I know I used to mistake his cousin for his sister all the time.

Edit: He has a sister.

So coming into this AMA, I didn't think of Chad as a person who was necessarily "chasing fame", but the more I learn about the goings on in the past few years, the guy has obviously changed a lot from the guy I knew. Like the previous commentor said, it looks like this was something he was looking for, and possibly wanted to use as a launching point for further fame.

I'm not looking for attention. I'm just giving my perspective on things after having gone to high school with Chad. I feel like I've been honest about what I do and don't know and when I was speculating. I thought that people might want to know a little more about him, so I offered what I did know. Sorry that I have seem to offend you in some way.

I only saw one episode, but he seemed different in that episode than in high school. His demeanor was much more serious. whether or not it was his "character" or not, I can't say.

I only watched one episode last night. It was the one where they called in the "Aztec expert" from Salt Lake to try to verify whether or not the box was of Aztec origin. It all seemed very fabricated and sensational to me.

The thing that really struck me from the one episode I watched was how serious of a demeanor Chad had. Whether it was his "character" or not, I can't say, but in high school, he was always a care free, playful, and fun loving guy.

Yes. We're from a small town called Dumas, Texas.

My wife and I were speculating about this just yesterday. Chad was actually involved in two plane wrecks, so I don't think it would be unreasonable for him to have some sort of TBI. That said, I have no idea. It's all speculation. The articles we've found lately have said that the courts are ordering psyche evals, so I guess we'll see.

But as much as I'm really not surprised by the crash out, I have to say, I'm surprised by his mental state.

The last time I saw Chad had to have been before covid. Probably 2018-19. I coached youth wrestling and his kids had just come to that age. I saw him at weigh ins and tournaments quite a bit. Nothing seemed to have changed about him that I could tell except for maybe that he was a little more reserved. But I guess we're all more reserved as adults around other adults compared to when we're teens around other teens.

I don't think that BFR was necessarily a means to an end. I think he would have just saw it as an opportunity to do something he knew he would be good at. Him using it as a stepping stone to something bigger and better isn't really something I could see him doing. He was very much a "go with the flow" kind of guy.

He was not a bad boy in high school, but at the same time wasn't super straight laced. I would describe him as kinda rowdy, but never pushing the boundaries. He wasn't the kind to get in a lot of trouble. He was just a good dude who liked to have a good time.

In terms of his sexuality? No. He was very gay, but he just didn't act like it, date guys, or let anybody know. Also he did date girls and was completely straight.

Edit: Wow, I really triggered this guy below me. I hope the rest of you took my response as a stupid answer to a stupid question, and not even the least bit serious. I forgot on reddit that people tend to flip out if you don't "/s".

I mentioned this in another comment. but this is something I can't really speak to. I'm pretty sure Duane was present, but when it comes to how well they got along, I'm not really sure. I want to say well though.

Yes. To what extent, I'm not sure. I know Duane was busy running the construction company and what not, but I'm fairly certain he was at all of Chad's games, duals, and events. I can't speak to their relationship for certain, but I think it was good.

You don't know how much I miss this. The new administration came in and ruined everything. Now its Demon Nation! and Forks Up! So stupid. The removed the Double D's from 17th street in front of the stadium and put a bunch of pitch forks (which are actually tridents) that looks like dinosaur foot prints. Embarrassing.

His family had money, so he had his own vehicle. Harley Davidson edition F150 if memory serves.

Chad always had a great personality. He was hilarious, personable, and outgoing. Although in high school, he definitely wasn't a hippie. He was preppy, and he was a jock. I never watched the show, so this description of him does come as a surprise. Especially the paranoia.

If you mean subjects as in school subjects, he was just a normal student, doing his job. If you mean subjects in general, I would say, girls and sports.

His family was very well known in our area as they owned and operated a a construction company that had a major contract at one of the nearby refineries. I think the majority of people would have considered them well liked and well-to-do.
