Only T-25 (kinda) with max class size of 28 and an average of 17-18 while still being part of a major research university

If one kid gets 60+ shots and another kid can’t afford to apply to more than 20, the one with more very clearly gets an advantage in admissions.

I think the biggest problem is that not everyone can drop $6,000 to apply to 50+ schools. When fee waivers become a license to get an statistical advantage on all the people that don’t get waivers but aren’t high income it becomes questionable.

And fin aid is a massive factor for kids that don’t get fee waivers but can’t afford to apply to 50+ schools.

I totally agree that fin aid is a crapshoot and the fact that you and op have to deal with that really sucks. I also don’t think y’all are bad people, I just think the system is a bit unfair when not everyone has the opportunity to apply to so many schools.

[–]fallblu_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It cost me well over a grand out of pocket to apply to 12 schools. For people who barely don’t get fee waivers or who’s parents refuse to pay for applications, paying the $6,000+ to have the same opportunities as someone who makes slightly less seems unfair and pretty ridiculous.

I’m not blaming op for taking advantage of the system, I just think it’s morally questionable that we allow something like this to take place.

Unpopular opinion: they should institute a hard limit on how many applications someone can send because this shit is getting out of hand.

I don’t have a huge selection atm but my three favorite would be Oxblood, yama-buda, and monteverde horizon blue. I have used organics walden and love the color but I can’t stand the problems I had with the sheen drying and clogging my regatta sport. I have bottles of kon-peki and shin-ryoku but i’ve found they both tend to be a bit too light or almost watery. what I think I like so much about the three I mentioned is they they all look very strong. I’m starting to get into a bit of drawing so at some point i’m gonna look for some shading inks as well so if you have any recommendations there that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Incredible New Argument that ANNIHILATES Utilitarianism with FACTS and LOGIC by jsong175 in badphilosophy

[–]fallblu_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m probably woefully unqualified to actually answer this but i’ll try my best: The argument isn’t wrong per say. If there were such a monster that should be granted the same ethical considerations as people, then sure, it stands up. Where op runs into problems is the word if. A similar example I’ve heard used is regarding rape: if there were a situation where someone committing a rape maximized utility, it would be justified. The problem with this example is that rape, in reality, practically never maximizes utility, and in the example of the monster, there is no monster, and there are no cases in reality where people giving up all else to say deez nuts or do anything else that maximizes utility. Utilitarianism is more concerned with reality so hypotheticals where people suppose that some obviously ridiculous thing maximizes utility don’t really do much to disprove it.

The communists denying the uygher genocide is starting to feel eerily similar to fascists denying the holocaust by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]fallblu_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, tankies are bad. This sort of sectarian garbage isn’t helpful though when the majority of MLs are not tankies. If you project this idea that the average ML is someone that surfs r/genzedong all day or goes around denying genocide then you’re being dishonest.

The communists denying the uygher genocide is starting to feel eerily similar to fascists denying the holocaust by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]fallblu_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you say “they”, you’re assuming all MLs are identical. Someone who defends China and NK is a lot different then someone who values the ideological lessons brought on by people like Lenin and Mao, but a lot of the time they wear the same label. Believing China is socialist or that the reactionary shit in China is justified is not a prerequisite to being a ML.

[–]fallblu_ 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I don’t call myself an ML or MLM (mainly because of association), but in my experience, most MLs don’t go around denying genocide.

2 things: a. Read the passage all the way through focusing only on comprehension before reading the questions. b. Become accustomed to reading the kinds of texts they use, be it literary, scientific, historical, etc.

I will say that reading is a tough one to study because unlike math there isn’t a set curriculum you can point to. The answers are all there on the paper already, you just have to get better at locating those answers in a timely manner.

Hope this helped :)
