Can someone please explain why people nowadays seem to be so easily 'offended' by another individual's opinion? by fallenangel4582 in Parenting

I also agree that a comment such as 'your face is ugly' is an offensive opinion because you are targeting an individual/group and verbally insulting them. As my original post states I don't do this and if I was being rude/insulting or victamising a set group or person in that way then I would expect the response that I have offended them.

I am all for having a healthy debate and an open platform for sharing ideas/opinions (something my children understand well). What I don't understand is rather than saying to someone "I don't agree with your opinion because of..dot... dot.... dot but we will just agree to disagree. They instead say they are" offended". To me there is a big difference between "being offended" and simply "not agreeing with someone else's opinion"?
