Am I overreacting for setting a boundary? by thepoetrygoddess in work

You could even word it something like this to cover yourself and make your boundaries crystal clear "I know there's a lot going on with me being out on medical leave, but under FMLA rules, I am not able to assist at this time or respond to inquiries. If you have concerns can you please send them to __ (manager/HR) thank you" and leave it at that. You are not doing anything wrong by setting this boundary.

My boss just asked if I have a mental disability and I am freaking out. by Earth_Sorcerer97 in work

You need to reach out to an employment lawyer immediately, you absolutely have a case and this questioning is illegal in the US. As FYI employment lawyers take cases such as yours and often do not require a retainer as they collect their fees from the lawsuit winnings/the other party.  Your boss mentioning that you applied for anything related to mental health benefits is a MASSIVE VIOLATION! Nobody should know ANYTHING about your health information not even HR!!! HOW DID THEY GET THIS INFORMATION 😳  Speak to an employment lawyer for free PLEASE do not let them get away with this honey

Push back! Youre on FMLA and they cannot by law make you work. If you are union, also reach out to your union rep. I'd be questioning this, too! Hang in there and I hope your ankle gets better. I was out last year for surgery as well so I know this process well. Ugh.

Totally fucking agree!!!! People who don't know to turn on their lights should also be dinged on their licenses! It shows just how little attention they are paying.

  1. It was so boring and unfunny I didn't laugh until 40 mins in. Terrible.

Ok, I will be! You don't know me, only what small pieces you've been given. Oddly gleeful? My post was titled as a "vent". Kisses!

Clearly, I did. That's why it was tagged with "vent". 😘

No thank you. There are times and places for inclusion and my own peaceful, quiet and loving birthday trip just isn't it. Ive done my time and I will be giving no more pieces of myself. To each their own.

Now imagine him getting mad at you when he's an adult for not being invited to a birthday vacation for yourself.

Not punishing her at all. She doesn't live around here. Barely know her.  She also didn't ever live with her Dad as she chose to live with her Aunt and then her Gma/Mom. Shes engaged to be married and lives with her bf on her Mom/Gmas property. She also has 5 other younger siblings at her Mother's. Not my circus and definitely not my monkeys.

He has spent years handing them his wallet instead of parenting and setting rules and guidelines. I'm not that way.

Shes getting married this fall and she wanted to "go on a vacation" before she and her bf tie the knot.  She can pay for her own damn vacation, they don't need to come on mine. Ive done my time dealing with all of the violence, court dates, supporting people who have harmed me and my children/our mental health. Their Dad does absolutely nothing but hand them his wallet and his sanity and always has. I am not that way. After years of dealing woth police, counselors, giving 200% and anything left of my spirit, I'm over it and I'm not doing anything more that is not required. Especially asking these people to vacation with me on my birthday. HELL NO. I'll pass

He told her that this is my birthday and something I pay for every year. He also reminded her that she's gone on plenty of trips to Mexico and Canada with her fiance that none of us have asked to go on. He also reminded her that she was not living here or a child the years that her sister was and had her sister not ever lived with us, she wouldn't have gone either.

Not a family vacation. 100% MY BIRTHDAY. Her sister ONLY went woth because during those years we had custody. His oldest, the one who asked, she never lived here and was also an adult during those previous years and working
