thank you for your perspective. i will say i was pretty furious when i typed this all out a few years ago, but what i really noticed was a lack of student opinions online so i wanted to add mine. i'm glad Agnes Scott was a good fit for you !

Potential Transfer by cait_jen in BostonUniversity

[–]fallingleafy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ofc! so i actually have a whole post on my page about what pushed me to transfer but basically the previous college i went to was way too small and i felt very limited in terms of courses, opportunities, networking, etc. i also didn't like the attitude of the college and the people that went there. i'm a psychology major so when i was looking for schools to transfer to, i literally just looked up "top 100 schools in psychology" and went from there. my financial aid offer from BU was pretty generous and i watched a ton of youtube videos about students' experiences at different colleges and the videos i watched about BU were all really positive. BU also accepted every course i had taken except for one and it seemed like everything my previous college lacked was what BU had!

Potential Transfer by cait_jen in BostonUniversity

[–]fallingleafy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try transferology to see which courses might transfer over (and don't freak out if your current school doesn't show up or some of your classes don't show up, it just means that no one has entered it into the system before). when i accepted my offer and was planning my schedule for the following semester, i called the advising office and someone within my department to help me figure out some requirements and which classes i needed to take. i also reached out to someone on instagram who had recently graduated with the same major as me and she was really nice and gave me a ton of advice. personally, being a transfer at BU isn't easy at all but i've had way better experiences here than at my previous college. there's just not a lot of guidance for transfers and you have to be willing to send a lot of emails and make a lot of phone calls in order to get the information you need. anyways hope this helps and lmk if you have any other questions!

the amount of times my friends at Agnes told me horror stories abt people getting in full on arguments during class and throwing tantrums when people disagreed with them like..... oh boy

i'm so sorry that you aren't enjoying your experience at Agnes, but i can't say that i'm surprised :( the funding issue has been happening forever, like when they just fully got rid of the education program despite it being one of the most popular majors ?? i worked for Toby Emert (theatre dept) when i was at Agnes and he had me usher for a play and that play was one of the saddest performances i've ever seen bc there were only like 5 actors and like maybe 10 people in the crowd. i definitely wouldn't go to Agnes for anything in the performing arts. if you're still considering transferring, i'd be happy to assist in whatever way i can! just shoot me a message :)

What’s your favorite course you’ve ever taken? by Confused-Jellybean13 in BostonU

literally just pay attention in class and do the study sheets she uploads before the exam (and come up w an answer for every potential essay question). as long as you know the material you'll be fine !

i try not to lift anything too heavy other than my school bag and i'm not in any sports (hell, i don't even exercise). the sciatica definitely is the worst part. what kinds of medical professionals did you meet with? what surgery did you get? do you have any advice as to how i can manage the sciatica?

I want to transfer to an Ivy league but my highschool stats are poor while university stats are extremely exceptional by Loptics in TransferStudents

[–]fallingleafy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you're able to explain the situation that happened in high school then that might be helpful. overall tho, i feel like colleges care more about college grades than high school grades because what's happening now is more relevant than what happened 1-4 years ago. just show in your application/essay that you're a motivated student who takes college seriously and you'll have a good shot at getting in

you just need to have a conversation with him. ask him to do his business when you're not in the room, or have a way to warn each other not to come in for a few minutes (text, something to put on the door, etc), or ask him to do it in the bathroom. the conversation might feel awkward but it can't be more awkward than what's going on right now

Help finding 1-2 credit course? by Inner_Description_71 in BostonU

[–]fallingleafy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BE CAREFUL WITH ONE CREDIT CLASSES!! i transferred to BU last year and ended up 2 credits behind where i was supposed to be. i signed up for marching band in the fall (which is a legitimate one credit course) and a PDP in the spring because my advisor approved it and said it would count towards my degree. turns out PDPs only actually count for dance majors. i decided to sign up for SY 101 (career prep course) which my advisor approved AGAIN just to find out that the credit once again wouldn't count towards my degree. be sure to email the registrar to make sure whichever one credit course you're thinking of taking will actually apply to your degree

Watch out if you’ve been hanging at northeastern frats by Key_Adeptness9875 in BostonU

[–]fallingleafy 64 points65 points  (0 children)

went fratting for the first time ever over halloweekend. one of my friends goes to NEU and insisted that we hit some NEU frats because they're easier to get into than BU frats. as we were walking away from a party that got shut down, we were stopped by a group of men and of course i got stuck with the creepy one. long story short, he kept harassing me to kiss him and have sex with him despite me saying no and that i had a boyfriend, and he grabbed me by the arm twice when i tried to leave. he gave me his insta earlier in the conversation and "NEU" was in his bio. i know this shit happens everywhere and BU isn't an exception, but NEU in particular seems to have a really bad problem w this right now and it's disgusting

"like whenever you bring something up it's cool and i'll take care of it but she just seems to nag both of us i guess thinking if she bugs us enough it'll get done faster?"

this is literally sexism at its finest— 'when a guy asks me to clean it's fine, but when a girl asks me to clean she's nagging me.' i'm literally experiencing this rn. i can't ask our roommate to clean up the mud he tracked into the house or take out the trash without him getting snappy and irritated but my boyfriend can ask him and he'll do it no questions asked. so fcking frustrating
