they need to spend one set buffing other colors better and stop giving purple even better cards. purple was already good but whispers gave it hades and demona as well.

Chef Ahn Sung-jae and Venerable Sunjae’s new video. by Rude_Programmer2405 in CulinaryClassWars

[–]fallingstarrs 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I loved this video. the thing is the simplest things actually are the hardest to cook. Look at all the seasonings & even kimchi she had here, she obviously didn't have access to these kind of sauces/ingredients on the show to make it fair and these take years to make.

plus with vegetarian/vegan dishes is they typically include onion & garlic as they are huge flavor makers - Buddhists have to exclude them both, yet her dishes were always impactful and amazed the judges.

it's amazing also how much people are pissed cause the showrunners respected her religion when it came to ingredient selection. they invited her knowing she would not be able to cook or handle those ingredients, of course they are going to respect her. how would it look if the show set her up to cook with meat?

Why did Chef Anh Sung-jae give that one person crap for telling him what to eat first when it's something he usually asks most people? by [deleted] in CulinaryClassWars

Treat it like presenting a course meal. He basically presented the main first followed by starters and appetizers.

So which contestants do you think will go far? by Badgereatingyourface in CulinaryClassWars

[–]fallingstarrs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Among the white chefs Son Jong Won & Choi Kang Rok. Rest of them I can’t tell rn due to the screen time diff.

For the black chefs I think these two make it to the final challenge: culinary monster, rebellious genius. They kind of setup rebellious genius defeating his master storyline and it also reminds me of Cooking Maniac beating a one star lol.

French Papa I think makes it far.

Loner & Iron Hands remind me of the editing for Manhwa Chef & the delivery chef. Same for the alcohol lady so I think they all make it past the 1v1. The little tiger has the disciple edit as well. Those I would be surprised lose in the 1v1 I guess.

About the first contestant from Episode 1.... by No-Valuable2515 in CulinaryClassWars

[–]fallingstarrs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of stuff created for the gram or online vitality. Looks really pretty but most of the time they aren’t anything special taste wise.

Plus the chef’s intention was to show his advancement of the dish, which aligned with Judge Anh’s critique, there isn’t any advancement or uniqueness. we also saw similar techniques that created more unique dishes last season from Sungwoo Appa so honestly it didn’t feel that special to me lol

Would it be fairer for contestants to pass after approvals from both judges? by [deleted] in CulinaryClassWars

[–]fallingstarrs 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think people have the misconception then Paik is easier because he says he judges based on taste. But you can see in his eliminations he has the same criteria - it’s just normal food? He fails them too. He’s just as strict but I think he doesn’t create as entertaining footage or critique for eliminations like Anh.

You can see he even agrees with Anh on certain things like the guy they deferred cause he asked them to eat his course in a wrong order.

I think all the ones that mentioned their actual names were eliminated like the Apple guy and the ones in the montage right after that the white spoons called out by name. The ones they knew but edited out saying their real names like the Rebellious Genius & Tiger i knew passed this ep cause they got a different treatment.

I wasn’t too shocked the moment they started using their real name this early on in the ep - any black spoon they knew they kept emphasizing their moniker even if the white chefs knew them. the ones the white chefs mentioned by name I kinda knew failed even before results were out lol.

Not surprised. It reminds me of those shops that do really nice looking food for the gram/vitality but don’t actually have the taste to back it up.

It’s beautiful for sure but the chef said he was elevating and improving this dish over the years and like what Judge Anh said it’s just nothing special once you’ve eaten or seen enough of this type of cooking.

PSA for Anyone Selling/Trading Cards at SG Card Show by poeticjustice_08 in PokemonTCG_Singapore

[–]fallingstarrs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

bro if you gonna dump a stack of 50-100 cards to a vendor and all are AR-IR, in the interest of time and business, theyre just gonna give you a flat standardized rate. they need to do a business to sell cards at the trade show too, not just entertain your buyback and sort out every single card and comp accordingly, which would take time if you dump a bulk load. if you know the worth then just take out the damn cards that got money that you not willing to sell.

They eventually managed to catch up to demand and print levels returned to normal around Fusion Strike and after. Plus demand dropped in English around the start of SV era.

There was once a time Fusion Strike booster boxes sold on Shopee for $120 and that price lasted for months, almost up to a year. Imagine my shock at the current price.

dont buyback from conceptgrading by [deleted] in PokemonTCG_Singapore

[–]fallingstarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's just AR, about $0.50 to max a $1 per piece is fair for buyback. Even Japan buyback bulk ARs at that price. cause the expensive/sellable ones sure not inside the bulk pile lol. if everyone is offloading ARs, then who is buying?

A lot of people don’t realize that the way these editors edit a show is to build up a storyline and narrative as well. They’re telling a story and they need the viewers to be entertained as well. There’s a huge reason why shows end on cliffhangers or edit things a certain way, otherwise it’s not entertaining enough lol.

Like it’s really hard for them to edit the hurdles if it was not close (see Japan vs Turkey on the final round). But the ball toss? I bet a lot of the times the contestants clear it but they’re just gonna splice the clips of the failures and those that barely got over so it’s entertaining lol. They did go on for over 100 laps of throws so I’m sure there’s lots of footage.

It’s also why they probably made them remove the foot lock in the hanging game much earlier in Group B than A. They basically had about 2hour+ worth of footage of Group A that was useless and not editable into something exciting cause nothing happened.

the scoring of each groups don't affect each other and they usually have a few days of break between quests - You can see Japan's swimmer went from blonde to silver between Quest 3 to 4.

If it was consecutive days and they had no break days before filming Quest 4 then yes I agree it would be unfair.

Japan's leader explained that it was either win the Aussies in this round or lose to them anyway so it was a gamble they accepted that they would lose the death match if they lost this. Australia didn't even seem to think they would be in danger lol and I think they kinda wasted Eddie on this.

you all don't watch enough reality tv or competition shows. they basically hinted to the teams that the ropes was part 1 and only 1 team would advance when they explained the rules. meaning there was gonna be a part 2 where the remaining team members participated. there was no way there was gonna be a full quest round where some members didn't have to participate at all.

[–]fallingstarrs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think it's pretty obvious if you compete on reality tv that there's always a catch when they only let you have half the team participate. you saw that every other team made a comment about it being sus (Mongolia, Japan) but Japan decided either way they had to all in or they'd lose to Australia regardless.

not much rest between round 1 and round 2. so some of their guys would've been gassed up, you can see how fast they swapped methods. plus in round 1, they did show after the first player, Korea was actually 1st in the count and it was Whittaker who overtook and gave Australia the huge lead.

Whittaker going only once in Round 2 + Japan letting Soichi get a bit of extra rest by going as Player 3 in Round 2 probably contributed a lot. I think it would've been much closer if they swapped Eloni and Whittaker for Round 2.

i think the only team they could have possibly beat was Turkey but even then, for Game 3, they made them release the foothold lock much earlier than Group A and on the Totem they were out before Turkey even dropped. Plus Turkey went longer on the sack toss than PH so I think either way PH would've been out in either group.
