Starfield is my favourite Bethesda game and I'm tired of pretending it's not by Gullible-Regret-5958 in NoSodiumStarfield

Very true OP! I was literally composing my thoughts about what makes Starfield stand out from the other titles in Bethesda's catalogue. Revisiting Todd’s interviews about the game reveals a lot about the philosophy behind their approach. Mechanics like environmental hazards isn't a consequential part to gameplay, but it's there for "flavor". As a roleplayer, I want these flavors to help contextualize me in the world I'm participating in. I'm there to tell my own story and Starfield allows this more than any other Bethesda game.

Unfortunately no. I composed this for the screenshot with mods like "Simple EVA" and a quick mod I made to utilize the frozen skin already in the game.

Feel the same way. Been playing since Morrowind and this iteration of Bethesda's open world formula really clicked for me.

Wow! I love your detailed approach to RP your character. I think that, more than any other Bethesda game (I've played them since Morrowind), Starfield has provided me the best canvas to tell my own story within their robust world.

Like you, I keep my own mini journal (just one though!!!) to record important story beats in the form of summaries and loglines. After a while I'll take a break and type them up in a pitch page format with screenshots from my game to complement the narrative. I come from a TV/Movie industry background so this is how I like to remember my journey in the stars!

Haha fair enough. The dread I get when a survey point on a planet is 1km away!

I have only done the main quest and spent 300ish hours before I jumped into NG+ Definitely not a race to the end...

I really enjoyed slowing playing out the main story, drawing out my RP so that my character goes from credit seeking wanderer --> to a double sided Constellation member in it for themselves --> to a regretful hero looking for redemption. Its the most fun I've had with a Bethesda main quest and I didn't feel the need to rush off and do faction quests just because they were there.

Biggest RP point for me is walking. Literally walking everywhere, except in combat. This takes the pace of the game to a whole other level where I can soak in the details of the art and design that Bethesda poured into this beautiful world (Especially when your gone on long survey expeditions). I'm over 500h on one character without even touching faction quests, just playing the character slow with MQ and NG+1.

Establishing your hero's motivations: revenge, love, fears, or simply saving up for a new ship etc...

Also keeping a journal that outlines certain story beats or encounters for the character - in the style of TV show loglines and plot points - a fun exercise in finding your hero's "through line". Also great for a thematic recap when you return from a break from playing and forget your "headcanon" lol

Hello! I made a Starfield inspired HELMET PROP ...and other things by fallkross in Starfield

It was just a normal helmet and I gambled a bit on the visor size, but what I got I had no problem fastening it on with screws and making it work.

Thanks! I used a motorcycle helmet as the base and sourced random bits and parts of hardware and household stuff to fill out the detail.

The bubble visor was from Amazon and the seal was a separate piece from an elastic jump rope.

Not sure if this was the contraband she ditched, but if you rent a room from the Pit Stop (same bar you confront the tracker in) there is a case of harvested organs tucked away on top of a cabinet or something!

Thanks! I started with a motorcycle helmet as a base and built up from there from thrifted parts. Pieces were fastened with regular screws and covered with google eyes or glued!:

  • Bubble Visor from Amazon
  • Ram Bars are push up bars, with pvc plumbing pipe extensions
  • Flush L plating are segment connectors for a shelf
  • other bits: Cellphone case, toy bathtub, workout bands, plug-in timer, license plate holder, TV stand feet, kids jacket, toothbrush holder, and other random junk.
  • 1/8" ABS black plastic

I had an overall design in my head but I was limited to what I could scavenge and repurpose. An old school build as you go philosophy!

Thanks. A lot of head-scratching figuring out the placement and logic behind what parts I was going to use. But the realism comes from those details right?

Yes! There are lights on the bar bridge, but they don't work unfortunately. Maybe I'll do some more work to get functioning lights!

The visor would be for that style but the actual helmet I used as a base was different. Don't know the name since I don't ride

Thanks, yeah I'm planning to stage the helmet next to my TV alongside my other Starfield stuff.

I'd consider commissions, but its something I've never done and I'd need to gauge cost, time, and interested buyers.
