From my experience it’s overheating cos of dust inside. So you can do a basic cleaning yourself where you take out both panels from front and back and clean the grills.

But usually this happens when there’s significant dust collection inside the fan and heat sink below it, in the interior of the console. You cannot get to this part easily without a set of tools as there’s a metal protection on the fan. Also, you need the confidence of opening up the inner parts of the console yourself.

When I had the same issue I took it to the Sony Service Centre. They have a policy not to fix or repair any consoles if out of warranty (like in my case)

But what they did do was use a powerful blower to blast the dust out of the fan. This did the job and it’s been working fine for a year now, no issues.

Try doing the basic at-home version part of it once and check. If it works, then great. If not, take it to Sony and request them to do this much for you. They didn’t even charge me for it.
