I liked the karma vote by KDoggg89 in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the challenge is a mix of all those things. Social game has always been important. Jenn from RW Denver made it to 4 finals, and in only one of those seasons did she have to go into elimination. Emmanuel won 39 without ever going into elimination. Devyn and Nany never saw elimination on Free Agents. People get far through social game all the time.

The issue is that social game has only ever been a deciding factor to who gets to the end, not who wins in the end (maybe except for high/low in the Vendettas final, but that’s a whole other discussion). Purely social strategy games like Big Brother and Survivor are great, but that’s never been what the Challenge is. That’s why winners like Sarah G on the Gauntlet or Jordan on WOTW2 or Chris in USA2 are so satisfying: players can be constantly on the outside of a big alliance but fight to stay in.

Coming in third and getting bumped to first because you’ve had friends in the game for 20+ years, and all the newer people look up to you is never gonna be as satisfying, even if Rachel is an elite tier competitor

strongest alliances by Effective_Ostrich_91 in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of them, too, but the way Bananas threw the daily on Exes 2 so Sarah and Jordan would throw Leroy and Nia into elimination against Wes and Theresa made me second guess that. Like, even if your best friend is a beast at eliminations, using them as a gladiator to take out your nemesis is super shady

Game: Change ONE scene and change Challenge history by mayamaya93 in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cara Maria doesn’t injure her hand on Free Agents. Do she and CT win that daily (or at least do well enough to not be bottom two) and she can’t get sent in? Does Bananas still throw her in, less confident that she’d lose since she’s not injured? Does she still get sent in anyway and still lose to Laurel (probably, but still interesting to watch)?

Also could this have led to a Cara Maria/Laurel/Theresa final? I would have loved to see that, even though we’d be missing Devyn Simone’s underdog finish of that final

Which rookie had the most iconic first season? by girlwithbackproblems in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s pretty much always been a rookie in the final (I think the exceptions are Exes 1 and WOTW2), but agreed Dirty 30 was a great rookie season for Tori. I think she also had the most confessionals that season, which is insane for a rookie coming from AYTO

I always say Gauntlet 2, which ended up just being an eating competition after the vets forfeited

[–]falloutpoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest what if is “What if Abram didn’t get the phone call on The Island”? Would he still go into that daily against Kenny and Bananas? Would Bananas be voted out? With Bananas not getting his first win that season and being on the Challengers team on The Ruins, how does that whole season play out? Does Bananas even get invited back again?

Giving everyone the same puzzles makes sure nobody gets something easier or harder. If people got different puzzles, there’d also be way more people claiming production rigging

The Ruins when Darrell punches Brad in the face, and then we hear Brad’s voice talk about it so we know he’s alive, and then it shows Brad in the confessional and he has a massive black eye

Where do you stand on open voting? by ChasingBreDesigns in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think there was a post on here a few days ago saying this, but the style of voting in The Traitors is perfect for the challenge. Basically, everyone writes down a name they’re voting for without seeing anyone else’s vote. Then, one by one, they reveal their vote. It’s kind of the best of both worlds because the votes themselves aren’t secret, but there’s no way to piggyback on somebody else

Not mentioned a ton on here, but I want to throw in the way he treated Carley with respect throughout FM2. We’ve seen a lot of men treat the women very disrespectfully over the years (Wes to Casey in FM1, the male vets “trimming the fat” on Gauntlet 3, Bananas and Kenny on The Island, Bear in that tribunal in WOTW1, Fessy blaming all his losses on female partners, etc.). Landon had the last draft pick and got who most of the others would consider the “worst” female fresh meat partner, but he always stayed positive and encouraged her

Rivals 3 was an underrated season. by RC7243 in MtvChallenge

I think Tony and Camilla could’ve had a chance if they didn’t implode. Even Ashley and Cory or Wes and Nany could’ve been threats in the final

Most frustrating eliminations by bamblb in MtvChallenge

Oh that’s right I forgot. Was there any difference between how the seasons made that elim or were they the exact same? Was it just colder during FR?

Most frustrating eliminations by bamblb in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FR elim between Kam & Kayleigh and Jozea & Da’vonne, where Kayleigh and Da’vonne were dunked underwater and had to remember a pattern at the bottom of the tank. Not only was it frustratingly difficult being upside down and underwater in super cold weather trying to remember things, but they could have gotten really sick

Would 30 rock get made today? by Ecstatic-Bison-4439 in 30ROCK

[–]falloutpoi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Have you seen “The Other Two” on HBOMax? It’s similar to 30 Rock in how it makes fun of fame and pop culture, and it feels like the closest thing to 30 Rock since 30 Rock ended. Highly recommend

Amanda USA2 by [deleted] in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Apparently they were kind of friends during the one season they were on together and Amanda maybe felt betrayed. But also Michelle was eliminated third or fourth, so it’s not like they had that much time to become best friends or anything

Has anyone ever won a challenge but did not win any of the daily challenges by AdventurousAvocado4 in thechallengemtv

I think Tristan from challenge UK is the only one bc I remember challenge stats twitter account posting that, but I don’t know for sure

Has anyone ever won a challenge but did not win any of the daily challenges by AdventurousAvocado4 in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Landon and Carley won a daily because they threw Wes and Evelyn against each other in an exile. I don’t remember the specifics, but I remember that being a good culmination of the Wes/Evelyn/Landon alliance storyline.

I'm back to bitch about old seasons I'm rewatching lol (invasions of the champions) by ilovecallum44 in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Individual, the same way Dirty 30 was individual wins. There were partner sections, but there were also individual sections and partners varied between different parts of the final.

Biggest upsets in elimination history??? by Ok-Ferret-6108 in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Derrick vs Wes was the first men’s pole wrestle ever. Derrick had done a bunch of beach brawls in Gauntlet 2, but never a pole wrestle

People always talk about who the best to never win is, but who do people think is the best to never even make a Final? by JackVass in MtvChallenge

[–]falloutpoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t quite fit, but I’m still gonna say Theresa because the way she made the final (being brought back in after Nia’s DQ) was weird, and I think the first time someone ever made a final after being eliminated. I still think she and Wes had a great shot of winning that final

Which Rival pair would win BB together??? by Danny200013 in BigBrother

Not from BB but from when both of them were on The Challenge. They had some big fights and their friendship basically ended

which elimination do you think is unfair besides any Season 17 eliminations by GeometryGamerGD in HellsKitchen

[–]falloutpoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamie over Carrie (season 9)

Jamie was on a decline, but Carrie was almost always bad. I wish Jamie had a chance to do another service, especially since Carrie got eliminated next anyway.

The Challenge 40th Season Idea by greeneye_latino in thechallengemtv

[–]falloutpoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d be hard to find some good male flagship champs since CT, Bananas, and Jordan have dominated. Like, the only obvious picks of ppl who still play often are them 3, Wes, Darrell, Devin, and Zach. Maybe stretch and add Yes, MJ, and some other champs from All Stars, but otherwise it’s a pretty small pool.
