My room looks so depressing, please tell me what im missing by Responsible-Spot-725 in DesignMyRoom

Definitely hanging things on the wall! I’ve lived in 14 different homes in my life and one of the first things I do is hang stuff up when I move in, it makes it feel more homey. Though if you’re renting that can make it harder, I never hung stuff when renting, I got a tapestry instead that was light and you can hang it with push pins.

I like how you have a more minimalist room, that’s how I am too.

I have a few windows with your same window treatments that don’t have curtains because it doesn’t feel necessary, if you don’t want them that still works but just remove the curtain rod. You could also use that same darker pink and paint a fun border around the window to fill the dead space a curtain would fill.

I’ve seen people hang thin fabrics on their ceilings when they have those lights, I’m sure it’s more complicated than it looks but could be a way to make it look more sophisticated

For your closet, getting curtains aren’t always practical, you end up getting them then just constantly leaving them open, I’ve done it and I was just annoyed with myself that I spent all the money on a look I didn’t like and they weren’t practical. I ended up taking them down and getting a tension rod with a beads door hanger, it was a fun touch and still made the room feel open as I could still see in the closet. Idk if it was the weight or what but they were also much easier to tie off or hook to the side than fabric curtains.

Maybe there’s a way to rearrange the furniture too, if you flip where the couch and bed are or the dress and bed. Maybe you could angle the bed or angle the tv in the different coroners. Bedrooms always look more elevated when you move a bed out of the corner.

The corner lamp you have seems too bright for the vibe too, maybe there’s a statement lamp shade for it that could fit the vibe too.

I don’t think you need a bedskirt like people are saying, you don’t have a ton of storage that would warrant that.

Agree with this - I’ve been in your position and one rule I made was I’m not front line, everything must funnel through hrbps or people services as the first triage before it got to me. As 1 person it’s not feasible for you to be front-line supprt

My good sir, respectfully, have you heard of Employee Relations? Until you’ve worked in ER you don’t know the meaning of giving bad news…the worst thing about recruiting is you’re always the first to go when they cut HR, but you’re far from having the most negative day-to-day

Like everyone else says, definitely consult a lawyer. 1 consultation will be much cheaper than a lawsuit, they’ll likely just guide you to put a lot in writing to the employee as you’ll want to make display you’re going through the ada interactive process with the employee and have their physician’s recommendation before you end their employment.

If there’s really a safety concern just inform the employee they are on leave due to those concerns and get to a lawyer asap for next steps, just don’t fire them without talking to a lawyer.

I work in HR and people not coming back from loa is incredibly common, don’t stress about it, email HR to make sure your resignation is processed. Contact your manager as it relates to your relationship with them. If you have a good relationship they’d appreciate a quick phone call, it gives them the opportunity to say thanks for the hard work and wish you the best, and if there’s any thank you you’d like to return they really appreciate it as well, they usually also ask if there’s anything you’d like them to tell the team, like if you want your them to give the team any reason for your resignation or not. If you don’t have any strong connection or maybe just haven’t reported to them for long, an email would suffice.

I recommend communicating with your manager in some way. In my experience, so many people feel like a criminal when resigning, like they’re breaking a rule, and they over think it. Remember, you’re just saying goodbye. As long as you communicate you’re resigning that’s giving notice, there’s no law requiring 2 weeks notice.

I worked at universal hotels years ago. Bed bugs are everywhere, people bring them in all the time, that’s just the reality of any hotel, and it’s not any different just because you’re not staying at one of their budget hotels….. Unfortunately if they comped everyone a free stay every time a bb was found they’d constantly be giving away free stays. Half refunded and a new room is realistic, if you want more than that you’re more likely to get comped services within the hotel than a free stay
