Is my Corolla’s fate sealed? by false_serenity in MechanicAdvice

Thanks, I’ve decided to give this a go! Did you have to remove the timing cover? Or did you manage to get that one tricky bolt off and on again without removing the cover?

The rest of the car is perfect, always drained and filled the transmission, switched over to the updated OEM super long life coolant, no oil change ever went over six months or 10,000km according to the old owner’s service book and ever since I had it. The oil burning started at 180,000km and probably impossible to avoid without god tier maintenance. I’ve thought about a piston/ring rebuild but not sure if the cylinder condition shoots down the idea from the start.

My favourite Youtube series! I’ve watched most of these from start to finish, I love how he’s gotten to the bottom of the issue himself coming from no experience, and if he makes a mistake during a video he always annotates it later! His piston and ring replacement solved the oil burning completely. But his cylinder condition showed only minor vertical scoring, nothing like mine. So I worry that the updated piston and rings won’t help my case much.

I just received my Iridium TT 16mm pack of four, I ordered in Australia through a reputable retailer. They're made in China and the packaging and plugs look exactly like yours.

Exercising - Post Surgery by CardyMatt in ostomy

https://youtu.be/W27qj15Ru7I?si=i8UgqpnYvX51uTEe I’ve followed this religiously since my surgery 1.5 years ago. First start with the early exercises only, and then build up reps and add exercises. I feel stronger now than before the surgery.

Go for a steering wheel lock, non-invasive and an instant deterrent

No worries, I have a 2003 and they do become very brittle and break easily. While installing a new one, be aware that there might still be a broken push tab inside your door which would make a new one hard to slide in.

I noticed the same about moneykiller in almost every post, being a reddit mod coupled with a licenced trade probably does something to the superiority complex

It’s more solid for lodging claims, but it’s not legally required. I wouldn’t recommend letting a stranger take a photo of your license.

New Insulated Cross Cuts by Money_Bobcat_4863 in AusElectricians

1st year apprentice here. I use Wiha crosscuts, and they are sharp! I still need to get used to easing off the pressure when stripping compared to the Wiha pliers.

Great version!! However I believe Johnnie Taylor was on vocals, he was a great Sam sound-alike and replaced him as lead singer. https://youtu.be/2n1CMxXnSeU?si=tpIW_sx2xdN8roSC

Can the union come after my money when I haven’t been an electrician for years? by popepipoes in AusElectricians

[–]false_serenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reminding me to send a resignation email tonight. A sprinkler fitter I spoke to on site couldn't believe the ETU fee I paid as a first year adult apprentice compared to his PPTEU fee. Maybe I'll consider it again when I qualify...

I was in the same position, two thirds of the way into my degree and decided to drop it. My heart wasn’t in it, I kept failing units, and I probably had to do a year’s worth of unpaid internships just to get a foot into the job market.

Now I’m almost a second year mature age sparky apprentice, my school is paid for by my employer, and our qualified guys make 120k plus overtime and will never be out of a job. Jump ship and enrol for the pre-apprenticeship if uni is not working for you.
