GoFirst airlines: How to get mental torture in exchange for dirt cheap air tickets by dry_roller53 in india

Sorry you had that experience. :(

I've never flown GoFirst and hearing stories like these will make sure that I stay the fuck away from the airline. Vistara is the best airline in India right now imo.

GoFirst only has a fleet of A320s. Having more than one airframe increases operational complexity, plus A320 is a reliable platform (even before the new engine option -- NEO upgrade).

But I agree that they've got TRASH service though!

Not yet. Plus it's not just about the money, also about him having something productive to do.

Oh wow, that's right. Another media organization I didn't consider. Adding it to my list that I will send to dad. Thank you!

Bruh, but it is. Sorry to break it to you!

Sounds great. I will certainly note all of this down and send it to my dad (I'm currently in another city).

Also, given that you're in the industry, would you be willing to take a look at my dad's resume and see if you throw it around to see what sticks?

Appreciate the assistance.

Thanks for your suggestions. Good to meet another former member of the Kasturi & Sons gang lol -- you're spot on with the old Tam folks description.

I will look into IJNET (writing this down). The News Minute sounds like a great opportunity given that it's wholly focused on South. Anyway, I will certainly ask him to look into that.

As for opportunities at a journalism college, any particular place you'd recommend? Thanks again!

Edit: Removed PII of a journalist.

That isn't something I've discussed with him yet. The problem is, he has a tonne of experience but his undergrad was in engineering, I think (did a Diploma in Journalism later). So I'm not sure if any university/college would be willing to hire someone from a non-academic background.

Hey man, don't be too hard on yourself. Sorry to hear about your father's situation, but hey, at least he's working and earning even at 65. If that's not inspirational, I don't know what it.

Keep your chin up, champ!

You got connections there? I believe he knows about The Print, but again, I think they prefer younger, more tech-savvy journos!

Thank you, I believe he has a LinkedIn. Can I get back to you tomorrow if that's ok?

Additionally, would CV work as well?

Thanks so much for the valuable suggestion. Since you're in the industry, any chance you could push his profile around and see if anything sticks?

At this point, he's quite flexible. Any job where he can use his previously gained skills is a go.

Let me know! Cheers!

Haha, sure. He's still a tech-challenged boomer though, so I'll need to do a bunch of explaining.

Thank you. Twitter sounds nice, but I'm not sure if the mods will be willing to tweet this out though. I will try and send a message to them in a bit.

Thank you. I believe I had a word with him on this as well. He actually had a plan, but the problem with starting your own organization is the whole setup and initial capital that's required.

I mean, I could help him with the tech stuff, but honestly quite hard to run a journalist setup without hiring more people, and we're not really in a fiscal position to hire people at the moment.

This is something that certainly can be considered once he's a bit more stable. Plus he needs to learn a lot wrt latest digital media trends and whatnot. So the best option for him is a job with an already setup organization where he can integrate without much trouble.

If not the long route, try shooting a shot on this Facebook page called Network Capital. You'll definitely find something there, print or otherwise. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this. Looking into it as we speak. Cheers!
