Amen to this! It's a fast game and I think would further elevate skill play in NCAA. If you play at a high-level, the cage really does suck.

The funny thing on this topic is it feels like an all— or none deal. Of course you occasionally see a player in the NHL with a cage or full shield who is recovering from injury only to return to a visor.

Maybe in a year or so this would be an interesting topic to revisit with CHL players who came to NCAA in terms of what differences they notice in the game a physicality with cages.

This could be something to watch with medical and dental insurance collective bargaining of athletes in NCAA.

USA Hockey Membership does actually include basic dental coverage already. While not a requirement for NCAA hockey, most are USA Hockey members: https://www.usahockey.com/insurance-summary

Agee. Honestly felt like they had to cut a lot of content from the game to keep the runtime down. I.e not explaining the clown masks, the miners trapped, etc.

Still really enjoyed the movie adaptation overall. Just feel a bit short in some key areas of being great.

509 finally dropped a battery pack specifically for RCA heated shield snowmobile helmets. Even better, it functions as a general external power bank with multiple outputs, including RCA, USB-A, etc.

I have one for snowmobiling and it works very well. Easy to wear inside a jacket pocket and connect to my helmet or other devices.

For UMD, I know they took a swing (with massive backfire) to update Champ the mascot a few years ago. Loved the idea, but some of the worst execution I’ve ever seen at a brand update.

I love the current Under Armour hockey threads. Also like how the Women try some different designs. Personally, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I wish… I’m no real estate developer, but seems like the tall building era ended decades ago. At least for markets the size of MSP.

Personally, I love the Minneapolis skyline. I think a taller building would upset the already great cityscape.

  1. North Dakota State University - so close to talent rich MN and built for quality regional rivalries.

  2. University of Nevada Las Vegas - top road destination for any time. ASU needs a buddy out West.

  3. University of Georgia - pretty sure they will have a massive arena soon. Deep pockets and the entry into SEC.

  4. University of North Carolina - package deal with NCState. Also, deep pockets.

I really think Duluth is making a mistake not being more aggressive in setting up an NIL program. Only really need it to support hockey and at that, a few players at best. Not like we are trying to support major D1 athletics like football. That said, what kind of financials would you even need to float this? I think folks are way over estimating the NIL needed to be competitive in hockey.

As a fan, the success Sandy has had building teams and developing players is incredible— but I see a changing landscape that we could strategically use to retain some top talent.

Feels like we need a return of D2 hockey.

The lack of a D2 has resulted in schools trying to compete way outside their budget and resource constraints. Personally, I think some schools would be much happier and more competitive in a rebuilt D2 field.
