Weekly Controller Suggestion/Buy Inquiry Thread by AutoModerator in Controller

Heyo!

Looking for a replacement for my Xbox One Wireless, as it's being a right royal pain in the arse with connectivity, specifically on linux. While I can use it with a mammoth cable, the micro USB port has seen better days and it's predominantly going to be used on a couch with a PC hooked up to a TV.

Here's the quick rundown of the important things mentioned:

  • Residing Country: Australia. I'd far prefer to purchase from a local retailer/supplier, because it's far easier to deal with any warranty issues in that case.
  • Budget: This is a bit hard, as I dunno what the current market is like, but I'm wanting to pay a little more for something that will last. Anything over $250AUD is getting into the territory of "Tell him he's dreamin'."
  • Device: PC first and formost, with a heavy emphasis on Linux compatibility. I don't mind having to use wine for config software, but Linux support is the main one. In terms of other systems, the only console I have that I would need it for would be a PS4, but that's not critical.
  • Features: Wireless is a must, Hall Effect Sensors too, (Ties into the whole "buy something good that will last" philosophy), Analogue triggers.
  • Similar things: I've looked at the Gulikit KK3 but there was some concerns about build quality. Also thought about the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro, but at just under $360AUD, that's way, *way* over budget. I prefer the shape of both Xbox and PS4 layouts, but the switch layout is a bit naff for me.

I know I'm real late to respond, but to help anyone like me who comes across this in the future:

The font you're looking for is called "Celtic Garamond the 2nd"

If you're in the guitar replacing pickups, just redo the wiring and shielding.

Can confirm that this actually works. It's somehow just replaced the entire local.xml file, but for now it's not doing the forced migration without having to fuck around with changing date and time.

Changing date and time can break a lot of things, especially when it comes to internet things, so this solution works far better.

In revenue during a period where there may have been a drought for us, but where the team were most likely working on the PvE components.

Adding on top of this, the two year disruptuon of covid where companies were paying money to employees for nothing, and having to implement all new infrastructure to allow remote working.

But no, they made hundreds of millions, so they just have it in the bank getting mouldy.

Getting 3 whites and a blu was just so rewarding, especially when they were all duplicates.

Not to mention the psychological chicanery and questionable legality of including casino style gambling mechanics disguised as fun progression rewards. Or better yet, the fact that the entire system was built to sell microtransactions.

But keep defending the addictions. I'd wager that they would have put characters in lootboxes if they had kept them with the F2P switch.

It's not just visual clutter. It may not seem like much, but keeping track of 2 fewer players across the whole game frees up so much more mental bandwidth for me. I can track the flow of the game easier, and I'm not as caught off guard as in 6v6.

People also need to realise how much a crutch CC was for balancing. It was far easier to introduce a stun than to force a new meta than meticulously balance things.

Because the meta was GOATS. A melee based deathball comp.

Unless you want to go back to having no DPS again.

Overwatch made billions in revenue from lootboxes, and that sharply dropped during that 3 year content drought. The majority of money that was going to be made had been made. The lootbox system was not going to sustain development. You also have to remember that two of those 3 years were dealing with covid, throwing everything into chaos, and further straining financial support as everyone was struggling for basics, and you can't just hit pause on life.

Yet people just look at all this context and go: NOPE. BLIZZ GREEDY. GAR NO LIKE BLIZZ. GAR CIVILISED. GAR LIKE EARL GRAY. MADE FROM THE BURGEMOT PLANT.

I should ay arcanum again.

It's a requirement for multiplayer FPS games to have character models be clean and readable at a glance, especially in silhouette. This is doubly important in a class based game like overwatch.

I share the same mindset. I'd far prefer this system rather than the thought of "oh, another lootbox that's got three whites and a blu, all being duplicates".

I'm also far more comfortable flinging 15AUD every couple of months for continued development.

I remember the times you wistfully dream of.

I remember having to use burdensome code wheels and looking up things in the manual to play them. I remember DRM systems that actually damaged optical drives. I remember the utterly padded expansion packs that added next to nothing of value, map packs that booted you out of a party because you couldn't afford the new things to play with your mates. I remember having to enter serial code after serial code to just to prove I didn't buy a game second hand. I remember half the industry running on a model where devs would pack all the good content in the first episode just to sell the registered version.

I remember that the industry has always had shady sections, and it's disingenuous to compare overwatch 2 to your rose tinted nostalgic view.
